I think 'deluxe' albums can be split down into 4 groups: Group 1 On the same day, 2 versions of the album are released, the standard and a deluxe version with say a DVD or maybe a book or maybe coming in an unique box Group 2 A "collector's edition" released 10+ years after the original album, with an extra disc of b-sides or other rarities Group 3 A deluxe album released 4 months after the original release with a 2nd disc of bonus tracks, of which some might not be available online to buy track-by-track Group 4 Special editions of albums sold directly by the band's website and not available elsewhere. (i.e. In Rainbows Boxset) So are they worth it? …

Just read this article about U2's 360 tour. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertainment/music/news/have-u2-created-a-monster-with-massive-carbon-footprint-of-360-tour-14388326.html I managed to dig up some extra facts: - it takes 5 days to set up U2's 180 foot tall stage - U2's stage is tranported around in 120 transport trucks - Since setup takes 5 days, U2 owns 3 stages to compensate for time. - It costs $40 million to build U2's stage. Keep in mind they have 3 of them. I'm sure $40 million could be put to better use for your humanitarian work, couldn't it Bono? Here's another article: http://www.popmatters.com/pm/article/111530-u2-puts-plan-in-pla…

So I am doing a project for my senior year, w/ graphic design and music. I am going to be using Abbey Road as one of the albums. I'm having difficultly deciding what song would exemplify the album the best. Make your decision based off of lyrics, mood, feel, texture, overall representation, etc. Thanks!!!

link to the full album streaming on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Hope-Sandoval-&-the-Warm-Inventions/e/B00197GKES The delicious dichotomy between darkness and light, the space between inspiration and the manifestation of thought, is where Hope Sandoval’s music and lyrics catch fire. Through The Devil Softly, her second album with Warm Inventions partner Colm Ó Cíosóig (My Bloody Valentine), is a rich brocade of pastoral meditations that resonate with the kind of restrained yet provocative intimacy that only these two artists can provide. Well known for their reticence in the media, they’ve once again chosen to pour out their hearts and minds on record. It’s be…

Michael Jackson: Adolf Hitler was a 'genius' at showmanship By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 5:17 PM on 25th September 2009 Comments (83) Add to My Stories Michael Jackson hailed the showmanship of Adolf Hitler in a bizarre interview with a Jewish scholar, it has been revealed today. He even went so far as to describe him as a 'genius'. The singer went on to say that he wanted to hug the killers of two-year-old Jamie Bulger. Michael Jackson said Hitler 'was a genius orator' The King of Pop made the revelations in recorded conversations with his close friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. He also told the rabbi that he…

I was just randomly thinking about this boy band today. I remember when I was a youngster I used to always sit on my swing singing 'say it once'. But when I have conversations with my friends about music of our childhood no one seems to know who Ultra are. Does anyone remember them?

I hope this doesn't count as spam, I'm a big Coldplay fan and have been a lurker of the site and forums for a while. :embarassed: I just wanted to share my new forum style website for concert lovers and concert goers to share their concert stories, photos and videos all on one site. I got tired of going to a bunch of different sites to read concert stories and see photos of of my favorite artists and decided to make one central website fans of all genres of music. Come share your Coldplay concert experiences from past and present! www.theconcertexperience.com More features will be added later, but for now it's a start.

The Polaris Music Prize is an annual award that goes to the album deemed by music critics as the best Canadian album. It also receives a cool $20, 000 of cash. Personally I am really excited for this years prize. It features a few of my favourite bands; local artist Joel Plaskett nominated for his triple album, Hey Rosetta! one of my current obsessions, and Metric, also another band I have been listening to non-stop the past few months. This link here has all the shortlisted albums streaming: http://www.spinner.ca/2009/09/02/cd-listening-party-stream-all-10-polaris-prize-shortlist-albums/ The shortlist: Elliott Brood - Mountain Meadows Fucked Up - The Chemistr…

Kanye West was up to his old tricks at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Sunday night when he stormed the stage to protest the night's first honour. The rapper interrupted Best Female Video award winner Taylor Swift as she was making her acceptance speech to proclaim Beyonce's Single Ladies was "the best video". The outspoken star grabbed the microphone form a shocked Swift and declared, "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time." His protest was greeted by jeers and boos from the Radio City Music Hall crowd as a stunned Beyonce looked on from the audience and a speechless Swift held …

Unmap CD / LP (JAG156, released: 09/22/09) Volcano Choir is an assembly of Wisconsinites Jon Mueller, Chris Rosenau, Jim Schoenecker, Daniel Spack, Justin Vernon, and Thomas Wincek. You might find these old friends also frequenting records and stages under different monikers, Collections of Colonies of Bees and Bon Iver. The collaboration predates the meteoric rise of Justin Vernon's Bon Iver project, with original songwriting dating back to the summer of 2005, right around the time the Bees first toured with Vernon's previous band DeYarmond Edison. While entirely a studio record, the collection doesn't suffer from the overburdens of a digital pile up or over-thinki…
