....to his fans,to play on a festival. This dude should be slapped in the face. With his band he's played all over the world and their albums has sold really well, and now he's asking money to play @ a festival ? This is fuckin ridiculous! Joshua Dibb, aka Deacon of Animal Collective, has been invited to perform at 2010's Festival in the Desert. The Festival takes place in Essakane, Mali, approximately two hours from Timbuktu. http://www.festival-au-desert.org/ The Festival provides accommodations, food and transportation once on site, but cannot help in international travel. In order to share the experience of his trip and help cover transportation costs at the…

Sign up saying you want to participate - leave your name on the thread or PM me direct :) 2. When the deadline for signing up is over, you'll get a PM from me giving you the name of another participant in the Exchange. You will be making a…

'My brilliant son was murdered, so why won't Pete Doherty tell me what happened?' says mother of party plunge actor By Paul Bracchi Last updated at 1:21 AM on 05th December 2009 Add to My Stories Mother of Cambridge graduate who died at drug-addled singer's party reveals damning dossier of evidence which she claims proves her son was pushed to his death. Next week, as Sheila Blanco is painfully aware, Pete Doherty begins a UK tour. How could she forget? 'He will be dancing on my son's grave when he gets on that stage,' says Mrs Blanco, with a mixture of anger and frustration, born out of the kind of grief none of us, God willing, will ever …

Susan Boyle's at No1... and the biggest debut star of all By Sara Nathan Last updated at 12:44 PM on 30th November 2009 Comments (70) Add to My Stories Susan Boyle, the shy 48-year-old Scottish spinster, has made history with the fastest-selling worldwide debut album for a female artist. Miss Boyle captured hearts across the globe with her audition on Britain's Got Talent last year. But even her greatest supporters may not have believed that the eccentric lady who still lives in her childhood home in Blackburn in the heart of West Lothian, would celebrate not just the number one album in Britain, but also Australia and Ireland. Scroll d…

First, he's got the new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach, nearly finished. According to a Guardian interview, it's the "most pop record [he's] ever made" and features guest turns from Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Barry Gibb, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, and the Horrors. (De La Soul are on there too.) Then there's the previously reported opera he's working on with Watchmen scribe Alan Moore, as well as a new trio with the suddenly ubiquitous Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fela Kuti percussionist Tony Allen (who previously worked with Albarn in the Good, the Bad and the Queen). http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/audio/2009/nov/28/showing-off-damon-albarn

I can't remember if I've proposed doing this in the past or not, but this year we're doing it! So basically it will be a series of polls where we vote for music awards for the year. So this covers a little more than just album of the year type of thing. Some songs and EPs that won't get the opportunity to shine in the albums of the year thread may get a shot here. The way it will work. 1. We'll come up with the award categories. 2. We'll open up the polls for nominations. 3. The top nominations in each category will then be voted for individually. 4. We'll have an awards presentation. Voting will be PM based to keep an element of surprise as well as to preven…

They're both Coldplay and Radiohead's second albums, and the only two you can really compare (Parachutes beats out Pablo Honey by a mile imo, and X&Y/OK Computer and VLV/Kid A comparisons sort of fail in general) -- soo, I thought I would ask the Radiohead-obsessed World of Music forum which they liked better. :nice: I used to like A Rush Of Blood a lot more than The Bends, but I'm kind of sick of Coldplay right now so I'm going with The Bends. I do predict my opinion will change eventually, though, once I haven't listened to Coldplay for, like, a year or something.
