Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

Three songs in.

Bored by the first track and got scared it was going to be abysmal.

Like the second track, but I'll always want it to be old school Arcade Fire.

Third track not bothered about but preferred it to the first one as at least they were branching out.

Okay so today I started listening to Arcade Fire, I'm listening the Funeral, Rebellion Lies was the only song the I already knew before listening to it but I really like the album.

I will listen to Neon Bible and The Suburbs in the next hours

They're all great. You're in for a real treat.

Neon Bible is my personal favorite, followed closely by Funeral; however, The Suburbs wasn't as strong in my opinion.

I feel like Reflektor will wedge itself in between Neon Bible and Funeral.

ps I have not heard it yet. Is it good? Scale of 1 to 10?

Fran's rip is MUCH better than the one on TPB. Definitely a CD rip.

Seems to be fitting between Neon Bible and The Suburbs

I haven't heard it yet either.

People on other boards like Us Kids Know (AF forum) or 4chan's /mu/ are really liking this. Seems like Coldplayers aren't.

I'm Christina, by the way kids. :nice: Been a long time since I've been on here, but I knew it'd be my trusty place to find this leak.

Anyhoo, I friggin' love the album. Haven't listened to all of it yet but what I've heard is even exceeding my expectations. "Porno" is ridiculously good. Ugh. These songs will be EPIC live, for sure.

Hope ya'll like it, I know I am. :D!

Cuz Coldplayers be all sentimental and shit. I'm assuming it's a little more dancy, less of a tear-jerker than previous albums?

Welcome back, then!

Thank you!! :nice:

Right?? It's ridiculously good!

Currently trying not to dance around my office to "Here Comes the Night Time".

The album is a change of pace from the old AF, yes. But it's done so well it's not anything of a disappointment, I don't think.

Can't see where you heard the hate for Porno. It actually seems to be a lot of people's favourite track.

My top 5

1. Awful Sound

2. Supersymmetry (Absolutely breathtaking if you havent heard it go now!)

3. Afterlife

4. It's Never Over

5. Porno

I haven't heard it yet either.

Which is unusual because this board seems to love the lesser albums of great bands. And not in a hipster way. When they go all mainstream and Coldplay.

But this album seems alright. Awful first song. The rest has been fine (just finished Awful Sound.

They'll never reach the heights of Funeral, or even get close to Neon Bible, but I like them experimenting.

You Already Know is retarded. Walking On Sunshine retarded.

Really? I've heard it's a stand-out track (in a good way)

Really? I've heard it's a stand-out track (in a good way)

Oh it's definitely a stand-out track. In a dumb lalala way. It just doesn't fit the album at all. I want it to not exist.

I feel like "Normal Person" fails to deliver as much as the live version. Still good, just not as much of a punch.

Yeah. All of the songs feel more restrained on the record. Especially NP.

But some are a lot better than the live versions, like HCTNT.

Metacritic actually censored Orpheus' lil marble penis. :disappointed:

Looks like this album will be substantially lower rated than the previous 2. It is a lot like The Suburbs, very good but not as stunning as Funeral and not nearly as focused as Neon Bible. I think it's even more uneven than The Suburbs. The high points are amazingly high while the low points and the length weigh the album down. Hope this will be a signal for them to focus on quality rather than quantity because this is really unnecessarily long (the hidden track and the Supersymmetry appendix are pretty useless + a couple of altogether redundant songs) and the 2 distinctive sides of the double album are not distinctive enough. Also the lyrics are pretty typically AF which can be an annoyance in some songs. But overall I'm impressed because 2/3 of the album are perfect and I think this is sonically a step in the right direction.

Early impressions:

We Exist basically sounds the same as the live version, which is a good thing.

HCTNT is a bit flat compared to the live version. Still love it. (edit: on second listen, it just all clicked. This song right here, is why I love music. Period.)

NP is better on the album. Just my opinion.

YAK reminds me of Sgt. Pepper's. I like it so far.

JoA is very, very reminiscent of the B-52's. I love it.

I don't know why, but the music's very quiet despite having my volume all the way up, which lessens the immersion. I won't be able to truly enjoy this album until it comes out for reals.

"Supersymmetry" blew my mind. :stunned:

Finally finished the whole album, loved it altogether. I think "Joan of Arc" is really the biggest falter. Not too into it. Other than that, I really love each song and can't wait to listen to "Here Comes the Night Time" with the windows down on a warm, summer evening at twilight.

Favorites:

-Here Comes the Night Time

-Normal Person

-Supersymmetry

-Afterlife

-Porno
