Arcade Fire

Featured Replies

The album is great and I'm loving it. The only thing that I still can't understand until now is the inclusion of the hidden track. But overall it's a pretty album with fresh sound and danceable beat. Worth the wait :)

Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

Does it really matter that you understand it? Why does silence or ambience need a justification? Personally I'm lukewarm on the album. Musically I'm just bored by it, but I'll probs give it one more chance.

I thought the hidden track was meant to go between Side 1 and Side 2. That's they way it was ordered in the album preview that the band play officially on YouTube last week after the album leaked.

They liked the way it sounds.

This is a much better explanation.

It's like their Revolution 9 or A Bad Note (by Outkast).

No, it's just a reflektion.

I don't see any of the pretentiousness Jack Bauer is speaking of. Just listen to the album and see for yourself.

I wouldn't say pretentiousness, i just think it's a very punk rock attitude towards things. Like "Who cares what you guys want we're gonna do what we like and what we think is fun".

They're playing on rooftops now. :bigcry:

Reflektor is #1 on iTunes everywhere. :bigcry:

I have to sleep but if someone wants to watch it the LA rooftop gig starts in less than 2h and you can watch it here if it works for you.

Chris Martin's probably there fangirling/dying of envy. :D

Punk rock is one of the most limited genres though so that's an unfair comparison.

I don't even know what you mean by that. Who cares though, reflektor is amazing either way.

My top 3 tracks for Reflektor:

1.Here Comes the Night Time

2.Reflektor

3.It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus)

As in there is virtually no experimentation in punk rock (unless you're talking about some sub-strand of it) so it's unfair to compare a band who might actually be trying new things regardless of critical acclaim and what everybody wants (though I doubt that point in itself anyway). And the spirit of that genre (or at least the part you are referring to) only really mattered in its origins when it was new. Now everybody is aware of it. That's not to say it is devoid of meaning, but going punk rock is hardly sticking it to anybody anymore.

Haha, i can't keep watching them play the same songs over and over. This is overkill. I'll just stick to the album.

Is it me or has Régine lost all her joy in performing?

After listening to Reflektor like 5 times I can say that it's one of their best albums! (better than The Suburbs, in my opinion).

My top 5:

1. Afterlife

2. Normal Person

3. It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus)

4. Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)

5. Joan Of Arc

Wooh, I love Arcade Fire! :D

I greatly dislike this album.

It reeks of a band trying too hard.

Don't Arcade Fire always try really hard?

Well that explains why I generally dislike Arcade Fire.

Fair enough. Reflektor, ironically, is the album where Arcade Fire takes themselves the least seriously. imo
