Oasis To Take A Break back in 2008

Hope this hasnt been posted before...

Oasis To Take A Hiatus

They'll be ...back in 2008

Oasis have revealed that they are set to take a hiatus now all other commitments are finished.

The band have recently wrapped up their world tour and are planning on putting their feet up until 2007, when Noel plans to pen some new tracks.

Speaking to Russell Brand on 6music, Noel Gallagher admitted Oasis have shelved a set of songs originally touted for release on an EP.

He said: "We had a couple of tracks left over from the last record and in our own heads we thought they were good enough to be released as an EP.

"We went back and listened to the tapes and we reckon we can get it better, so we're having the year off instead."

yep, I've heard it in the news today... it's sad. :(

They deserve it...Although we're gonna miss them this 2 years

:(

And I missed them on their last tour too. Damnit.

oh well they left us a great album to hold us over

2008, thats not too long. Considering most major bands take 4-5 years to make a new cd. Not bad at all.

Ahh I'm sure they'll come crawling back befoe 2008.

^noooo! *g* I want to see them live again, just one time wasn't enough at all... ^^

They didn't say anything about taking a break til 2008, all noel said in the interview was that they were taking the rest of the year off.

Is The Masterplan underrated?

When it comes to quality, it's probably Oasis' finest (or close). I've been listening to it for quite sometime and I found great songs with great lyrics, but I don't know anybody (not Oasis fan) who's liked it or even heard of it. What do you think?

I love it! They have some of the greatest b-sides ever!! I mean talk tonight is one of my favourite oasis songs, along with the masterplan. And this album is actually my favourite oasis album :nice:

it just shows the strength of the band when people can say such things. the masterplan is an awesome song, but i couldnt decide between that and 20/30 others for my favourite one

Those are my two favourite songs in the album. Their lyrics are just wonderful

I would say that Def. Maybe is their best, followed by Masterplan, DBTT, and Morning Glory.

It's good but if anything I think it is slightly overrated! I mean I love lots of the songs on it, but as an album as a whole, I definitely prefer Morning Glory, Be Here Now, Definitely Maybe & Don't Believe The Truth. I'd put it on the same kind of level as Heathen Chemistry and SOTSOG personally. But the Masterplan itself might be my fave Oasis song.

Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are great albums, but a bit commercial for my taste (I love them, though). The Masterplan shows another level of songwriting Noel had never reached, and that itself makes the album more appealing

I bought it the day it was released......and I still like it very much.

Great songs.....some of them should've been on the albums IMO.

So, a greatest hits appears to be on the cards acording to Zane Lowe, entitled "stop the clocks the greatest hits".

Hope it will include the song "Stop The Clocks"!!!!

Oasis Hits Album Out In November

Rock group Oasis have announced they will release an 18-track greatest hits album in time for Christmas.

Stop the Clocks will feature a mixture of chart singles and lesser-known B-sides, all chosen by the band.

Wonderwall, Half the World Away and debut hit Supersonic will be on the collection, released on 20 November.

Oasis are to take a break from touring and recording but there was "absolutely no truth" in suggestions they were splitting up, a band spokeswoman said.

"They've been touring for nearly two years and finished in May, and then they said they were going to take some time out," she told the BBC News website.

Britpop icons

Fronted by the Gallagher brothers, Oasis have sold 40 million albums around the world since they formed in 1993.

Noel, 39, and Liam, 33, have become renowned for their feuding, temper and swearing, as well as being one of the defining bands of the Britpop era.

Their first two albums - Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory - were critically acclaimed and earned them global attention.

Be Here Now would become the fastest-selling album in chart history when it was released at the height of their fame in 1997.

Since then, they have released three further studio albums, plus a live set and a B-sides compilation.

So they're just re-releasing Definitely Maybe and What's the Story on a double disk? :P
