monobrow strikes another chord for the mensa club.

Know-all Gallagher??

noel gallagher would run circles around chris martin mentally.

This guy is just against everyone who thinks differently than him. He criticized Jay-Z and Glastonbury because he thought his performance there ruined the "rock show" when it's really a music festival. Now he's taking shots at Radiohead just because they had the balls to pull something like this off.

This guy is making it harder and harder to want to listen to Oasis.

Everyone has their own view, but i await oasis's new album......will it actually be interesting

He's probably mad he didn't come up with the idea first.:dozey:

Neither did Radiohead ;)

But what he says is true, it was a mere marketing plot.

a little bit, there's certainly a lot going on in there... can't wait for the new album!

I like Oasis, even if their best is behind them......but lets be honest how many bands in history have made more than 3-4 really good albums.....

I've got to be honest...

I've never really understood what people mean when they claim Oasis "lost it" after WTSMG. Don't get me wrong, I quite like Oasis, but they simply are not an "innovative" band.

Whatever they do, IMHO they've pretty much done it consistantly. Therein lies the one complaint about Oasis I (somewhat) see as having a solid basis, they are repetitive.

Perhaps I just don't get something, but I fail to see how Oasis later work has differed enough from their early work to cause such universal dislike of the later. Perhaps it's simply that the "newness" of their sound circa 1994 eventually wore off.

Because they used to write good songs, now they don't.

Oasis used to be relivent, Cigerettes and Alcohol and Rock and Roll star defined a generation of music lovers, total anthems for the masses. Now they just arn't as relivent.

i could name quite a few

Im talking about 3-4 great albums. There really arent that many.

"Oasis used to be relivent, Cigerettes and Alcohol and Rock and Roll star defined a generation of music lovers, total anthems for the masses. Now they just arn't as relivent."

perhaps I didn't make my point as clearly as I wanted to. I Agree that early on in their career Oasis were more relivent than they are today. I was merely trying to put forth that this is largely due to the "newness" of Oasis' (or more specifically Noel's) songwriting in the early days as opposed to a drop in quality, which IMHO is simply not there. (bearing in mind that any debate over the quality of music is entirely subjective.)

The masses are finicky, but it matters not what the masses think. Oasis have their place in rock history cemented. If they continue to churn out good music thats great.

My fav growing up (in case anyone wondered) was The Smiths, their legacy is cemented. Morrisseys has had some great stuff and some not so great stuff, but Im not going to bail on him as a fan......doesnt matter what he puts out. That'd be like bailing out on your parents because theyre old and not as "relevant" as they used to be....

This interview got me to really listen to Oasis, of course he's lauding The Smiths, but Ive really grown to love Oasis and recognize how great their catalogue is....

i could name quite a few

Well Muse has 4, Oasis has 1, Travis has 3, U2 has 6, Radiohead 7... ectra and yes thats great albums not just good ones.

To me theres definatly a drop in quality in later Oasis, but thats music subjectiveness.

Generally however, Oasis is regarded as having made two great albums at the very least.
