Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)

Featured Replies

I think Chelsea and Carrie will agree that the Crisis gigs were the best they've played in a long, long time. Just them, instruments and microphones and they were out of this world.

The music should do the talking alone, and if it doesn't, then maybe there's a problem.

Like Mich said above, the Crisis shows were absolutely stunning, I think in large part due to the fact that it was them and a stage, nothing more. It was looser to me, more intimate and friendly (OK, yes, it was a tiny venue, but I think that can be achieved in larger places as well), and I think they sounded better than I've ever seen them.

Crisis gigs. :bomb:

I feel the need/urge/whatever to post this for those who haven't seen their epic awesomeness when they employ minimalism on the stage. Multiple videos here.

The thing with Coldplay is things written on paper don't sound so impressive......"we'll drop some paper butterflies on the crowd" ....What! paper butterflies, what the fuck are they on! .......then you see it and :wacky: Butterflies!

Maybe they are gonna have doughnuts at the shows. Mmmmmmm doughnuts.

donuts would be nice. :wideeyed:

maybe they will beam up audience members to have donuts in the spaceship. :wacky:

they have epileptic fans...think of them[/color][/b] XD!

I had to cover my eyes during the flashing light parts of Politik. :|

My only other concern about potential "spectacle" shows are ticket pricing...Coldplay gigs aren't cheap to begin with simply because of their name. A show with more gimmicks than usual would almost definitely amp up ticket prices all over the globe. Touring is really the only way anyone makes a profit on music anymore anyway, so the merchants and labels will use any excuse, like lots of production, to charge more.

Visually everything from LP5 looks appealing, and more interesting than VLV. I think stylistically it would be closer to X&Y. Perfik!

As to smaller scale gigs - the band is big, they simply can't afford small club tour. 10000+ seats venues couldn't create intimacy because it's too big. People from back rows wouldn't see nothing w/o screens and huge scene.

In the end it's extremely encouraging news. It seems they close to the end and just polished existed material.

I don't think anybody here disagrees with them having big screens so everybody can see what's going on. It's what is actually being shown on the screens that is the matter of debate.

I think the summer stadium tour might be the deadline to get the album finished. I very doubt that they would be able to do anything more during the tour. Perhaps the mixing will occur in summer and then the album will be out right after the stadium tour.

round stage? rotating stage? if so i want a round ga pit! i could see us all running round and round hahahaha

where would the ramp of love go?

maybe it will be a round UFO stage that will float around over the crowd so it will be one big disc of love

* hopes that does NOT actually happen *

hmmm MSG is doing a total overhaul of its venue and its supposed to have decks above the floor G/A area but that is supposed to be for the audience.............

I have a feeling this album is going to blow my mind unlike any other album, and it'll leave a wonderful scar forever!

Same here. :)

About the opening act, I would like to see another dancing Roadie.

Great post, R#42! It seems LP5 is really finalizing. Sounds like some epicness will ensue. :awesome:

I do agree with the "blowing crap up" arguments. Coldplay isn't really a band to use stuff to use to gain attention. Now, Arcade Fire can do it, just like the Grammy's. D:

I have a better feeling for this album than the last one.

Sort of the Coldplay album that took on the world and won.

I think that they might be borrowing some more stuff from the wayne coyne, the flaming lips always put on a great show and its filled with all sorts of effects!

Cant wait for LP5, just hope its sound is totally new not like viva or any other album. They usually never disappoint!

i love how roadie 42 comes in so nonchalantly like its not even a big deal that he hasnt writting much in months and the entire sites been changed!

Yeah and then he's like, oh yeah well we're blowing stuff all over the place and this song is almost done, blah blah.

If you'll direct your attention to the upper right hand corner of this picture, just above Will's head, please.

Well, I guess one song's for sure...
