August 4, 200817 yr The first version is ok, It's similar to the itunes commercial, but with other special effects, I remember when it came out I thought... I wish the official video would be something similar to this, but at the same time I also wished it to be a really epic video with a nice history and a lot of actors, I think I miss my second thought :cry: The second version is excellent, I really like it, Chris looks so cute as a king, and Guy's face at the end is hilarious. I wish this version is the one played on TV, but I think that’s not gonna happen, besides I can see all these Coldplay-haters saying “now they have copied Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence”. :rolleyes:

August 4, 200817 yr I love how in the second video at the end when Chris is singing the chorus, it's like he's singing out to the hills and calling for someone to be his 'mirror, sword, and sheild' and out comes the other guys. :nice: It's like he's calling for help and they are coming to his rescue!
August 4, 200817 yr Sorta bad news every one (not really though) Parlophone posted the Hype williams version on their Youtube channel this morning, and only the Hype one, which probably means it's going to be the only one released. I don't think the cover will ever be on tv :cry:
August 4, 200817 yr Some people really will fall for anything as long as it says "Coldplay" on it. The power of the song is wasted on such pedestrian efforts. The iTunes advert trumps the insipid Hype version for emotion, and the cover version could have been done by GCSE students. How much did they pay these "award-winning" directors? Because they really should ask for a refund. After all, did Chris Martin not charge them with creating the "best music video ever"?
August 4, 200817 yr wow:stunned: some dissapointment there maybe? I think Coldplay must have been very satisfied with it after all they are perfectionists... I think the Hype one are nice images and fit well with the song the chosing of this painting has to do with the writing of the song and the other way around I think, and I think a lot of people are a bit dissapointed about it because we were expecting something very new and the Ipod ad plus the over kill on delacroix images we've seen these past weeks may have ruined it a bit. The cover video on the other hand I find Brilliant... I think the location is also brilliantly chosen holland is quite rich with castles and revolutionare buildings, yet they are surrounded by new buildings which gives the video a better relation to the present.. so maybe the weather wasn't as nice but you know that's holland.... the calm way of shooting it actually complements the song to me ( this goes for both videos) and yeah maybe it looked like students shot it with that quality but it probaly took more work to get it that way with all these high tech camera's..

August 5, 200817 yr Okay, I have to say that I love both videos! The first one is simple but cool and even better than the iTunes advert. The second one is really funny and clever (especially the ending). But I`d say their decision to make the first video the official one was right. It`s not that funny and nothing really special it fits with the song and no-one can say it's just a Depeche Mode cover or blame Coldplay in any way!
August 5, 200817 yr hm.... the official videos are nice, but i don't think they really fit with the song. i mean the song is very powerful, in my opinion it sounds very 'epic', it has a great atmosphere................ so i expected something more spectacular, some video with a little plot in the background (fitting with the song's lyrics, of course ;) ) AND coldplay singing. but instead i only see coldplay singing (which doesn't mean it's bad, but...........it's not very imaginative^^) the 2nd video is funny and like Larry already said, it reminded me of the music video of Grönemeyer's "Mensch" ;) but fortunately it's only the cover version, i think the official one should be somewhat more serious.^^
August 5, 200817 yr Just finished watching both. I found the first one boring. But I LOVED the second, the cover one. It was so clever and I loved the end when the rest of the guys came to the hill and sang the weird end part and Chris just smiled. So cool!

August 5, 200817 yr I love coldplay. I love the song. But the video... Mmm... The song is so wonderful... but the video is so "X" I mean... nothing special. what a shame. but the cover video is.... SO WONDERFUL!!! I LOVE IT

August 6, 200817 yr Here's my order of preference: Corbjin, itunes commercial, Hype Williams. The Corbjin one is funny though it kinda reminds me of the Burger King commercial. The Hype Williams one is pretty "meh," and I thought he was known mostly for doing rap/r&b videos. It's like someone's photoshop project. The only good part about it is that Chris gets to do some of his goofy dance moves. I don't feel it fits the song at all, it should be more epic.
August 6, 200817 yr The song is really really cool ;} I like it so much. And talking about the videos in my opinion second one is better than first one. That video is so funny,cute,lovely and interesting at one time! Love it!
