OMG CLOCKS ALL THE WAY IT IS NOT EVEN A COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i never really thought that they sounded alike, plus they have 2 completely different themes.

clocks was my very first coldplay song :) it will always have a special place in my heart. although it is their best song, it's my second favorite, after violet hill, the single greatest song EVER!!!

"Clocks" was the first song I heard, too.

You brought up "Violet Hill," and that makes me happy. Despite knowing them and owning two of their albums before that point, I think "Violet Hill" was the song that really put me into Coldplay mode. It's just dark in a beautiful way to me, I think, and it really attracted my attention. It made me want to listen to more, and I gained a greater appreciation of Coldplay in general because of it.

Clocks, I think it's the most perfect song by Coldplay :D It is the one that got me into them also, so it's very important.

i remember like 4 years ago i would youtube clocks & just fast forward the whole thing & just listen to the "home" part, the best part :)

i guess it's b/c when i first heard it i heard it from the end, so that is why it will always be my favorite part. plus it just wraps up the song so perfectly, talking about confusion & how nothing is making sense, until you're home. home, where i wanted to go

of course that part is awesome too, the whole song is just perfect! :wacky:

Clocks! I like how the whole song, with its drum beat, actually sounds like ticking clocks... There's this whole other atmosphere about the song. It's one of their best!

Clocks. Not even a contest.

I don't think Speed of Sound is terrible, but I can't remember the last time I even played it.

Whenever i hear the beginning of "Clocks" in a great mood, so yeah . . . "Clocks" all the way !

besides, it contains one of my favourite lyrics - "am i part of the cure or am i part of the disease ? "

Speed Of Sound for me.

But I think too that some of the Coldplay songs have many similarities... For me, 42 is the VLV version of Fix You - look at the structure, a quiet beginning, a dynamic second part and the same quiet end as the beginning.

Those two songs are still both awesome, but it's just a remark. :)

They are quite similar. When I was first getting into Coldplay I always got them mixed up :laugh3:

But now, knowing the difference :P, I think I would have to go with.......Clocks.

Clocks... no question. To echo others on here, SoS always felt like an attempt to mimic Clocks.

Clocks.

I love Speed of Sound, but Clocks appeals to me more. (I'm not hearing the comparisons between the two songs. Is it that obvious?)

To be honest, I'm not much of a fan of either song (I know, an unpopular opinion). I usually don't listen to either. I would have to pick Speed of Sound, though.

While I adore Speed of Sound, Clocks would beat it out. It's just a classic. But it is very close for me. Both are in my top favs!

Clocks for me. I don't know why, but I love the piano in it, and it has always been one of my favourites. Although, I do like Speed of Sound alot.

They do sound simular, they use to confuse me and I got them mixed up a bit. I love both so much, but I choose clocks.
