When do you think LP5 will come out?

Featured Replies

It's not like the fans go inside the bakery and hang out with them, stopping the band from working on the new album, they just meet the fans when they're going in/out and it just last a few seconds or minutes. They probably have professional and personal reasons to release the album on a certain date and taking more time isn't a bad thing. I'm sure 90% of the people here would rather wait for a good album. Also, they deserve some free time too, they have families and friends.

well said

After reading the Sunday cping news, I really want to know who Locust is :freak:

i want lp5 to be like violet hill :|

As I said a few weeks ago album released after festival dates where we could see around 5/6 new songs. Good tactic. No one complained when they put on that incredible show at Glastonbury 2002 where everyone only really knew Yellow and Trouble so it shouldn't be a problem at all. Possibly a tour starting in November starting in the UK and then doing the whole world after Christmas.

I am going to believe what locust said, but the tracklisting that is out there seems legitimate too..

I, for one, am tired of waiting, tired of the false leads and speculation, have moved on to love other bands more, and don't really give a flying frig about Coldplay anymore. LP5 will have to win me over all over again and I doubt that they can do that.

it's different, they weren't that famous then so there wasn't high expectations. I just hope they don't do the viva show again and at least take time to prepare a different show

Try being a Boston fan... 8 years between albums... their last release was in 2002, and apparently they are working on another??? Who knows when it will be released, if ever. This is frankly a short wait compared to what I'm used to. Be patient, for good things are still to come from the Coldplay camp.

i think they are going to release one or two single before summer/tour. then they finish recording and start tour. Rest of the crew (assistans, producers, engineers, operators etc.) continue to working on LP5 (managing, release dates, album artworks, sound systems..). Finally they release LP5 in August!! In the begining of this thread i voted for June, but now i change my idea to August... I hope they release it very soon but don't be selfish, they want to do the best and THEY WILL! we should just wait...

Right. Everyone stay away from The Bakery unless they are dropping off demo tapes :)

^ Hahah or at least only take pics of it when no one's around! :P

If it is October then it'll be just under 3 years since we last had material from them. I reckon LP5 will be a real peak for the band. Hopefully mixing the acoustics of Parachutes with the multilayer epics of Viva.

yeah you' re right :D

I'm fine with that. The Coldplay LP5 phase starts in June anyway. At the festivals I suppose they'll do a greatest hits/best of set with some new songs. A lot of (great) bands have done that before and it worked.

You probably mean just over. Viva was released in June 2008. ;)

It's funny, I haven't really been in a Coldplay mood since 2009. Christmas Lights tried to drag me back in, but it wasn't enough. I haven't listened to a single Coldplay album from start-to-finish in some time. The most exposure I get to them these days is if one of their songs comes up on shuffle (and sometimes I'll even skip it, eep!). I don't anticipate this changing until we get a firm release date for LP5, but I'm excited to be excited again, if that makes any sense in the slightest.

I can't decide if that's a derivative or integral

that's what i thought at first too, but then i realized that this person is also including Prospekt's March (which makes sense), in which case it is just under three years.

All I know is that I forgot what derivatives and integrals were since I conveniently left that knowledge at the door once I took my final math class. :P

Instead I now fill my brain with such useless trivia as Coldplay lyrics and what Will Champion likes for breakfast.

Gotcha, makes sense now. :)

i think its naive of us to take any of what locust says as false

If the news is true I will be so so angry and confused!Firstly LOCUST how do you know this?where are your sources?

If this is true there is a huge question to ask;

1.)WHY HAVE COLDPLAY ANNOUNCED ALL OF THESE FESTIVAL HEADLINE SLOTS?

I have just spent £200 on tickets to T In The Park, purely on the basis of seeing my favourite band in the world Coldplay. If there album is not out this october why are they playing festivals before hand? They are not good enough or old enough yet to play a festival without new material (I.E. Greatest Hits Show). The dragged the viva la vida tour out over 2 years! And now if sources are accurate they will most likely play the same show again!? Coldplay have released 4 albums in their career, they have not came close to be able to play a 'greatest hits' show. Also if they have decided to delay the album till October then it surely makes sense to play festivals next year. They will be playing festivals this year possibly previewing 1 or 2 new songs which no1 will recognise!Whats the point????

Although many people believe this information posted by 'Locust' I remain optimistic about the release date being may/june/july time. I dont believe that all the work they have done up to now (all of which coldplay had enough confidence to invite Q magazine into the studio and give away tracktitles etc) has been scrapped. This all just doesn't add up and although Locust was correct about hearing a song 2 weeks before on an ipod (which by the way does not make him a reliable source just because he heard a song early) does not mean he can have reliable 'inside' information! I heard White Shadows and Square One about 1 month before the album was released! ! !

^ What makes you think they can't play new material at the festivals, more than one or two songs? I agree with you that they can't rest on their laurels, it wouldn't be right for them to just redo their last tour or attempt to do a 'Greatest Hits' thing. I see no reason why their setlist can't be >50% new material. They did that with LP2 at Glasto, why do you think they can't do it now with LP5, and use the upcoming festivals as a platform for promoting it?

I just don't believe its right or fair on fans to use such a huge platform like glastonbury to play new unrecognised songs.

Fair enough. But don't you think it would be so exciting to be one of the first people in the world to hear their new material live? I would consider that to be a privilege.

imo

I'm strongly against the presentation of new material at festivals. At first I want to hear them on CD.

I respect your opinion and can understand it would be exciting i guess but i just dont think a festival is the right place. When i heard they were doing festivals my initial reaction was great they must be creating a masterpiece and are really confident. However this delay doesnt make sense.
