February 28, 201115 yr You didn't lose me Jack on the volcano/earthquake example. It was great! heno - locust seems to be quite reliable. These oracle's are quite familiar on fans forums. They had one on an Oasis forum who up until their breakup revealed remarkably accurate and spot on info through the use of dripping hints and teasing fans. I don't believe him on the whole 'album was moved from June to October' idea. I think it was always set for October because then they'd launch straight into their own tour in support of the album after that. It's very rare for bands to promote their own album starting at festivals. But true - Coldplay aren't in this for the money. These festival dates get a good amount of exposure on tv and the web and performing them live on national tv like they will do with Glastonbury and T in the Park will offer potential Coldplay fans a taste of what's to come and the best way of impressing music fans is putting on incredible live shows. Also gives them the chance to trial these new songs. They are obviously pretty confident of these new songs to be previewing them at these festivals so it shows courage and confidence. They've done it before at Glastonbury 2002 (their groundbreaking live performance which catapulted them into megaband status remember) so they'll do it again.
February 28, 201115 yr Unless LP5 is some sort of genius album I have a feeling I wore my Coldplay fangirlism a bit thin. :| I honestly don't care when it's released, I'm more excited for the tour than the album.

I totally agree with you on what your are saying. My only problem personally was that I would rather listen to the album before seeing them live to appreciate it more. And i am not saying locust is making these rumours up its just i am interested to know where he got his info from because i feel with the appearance in Q magazine they were pretty far down the line of producing LP5. One thing i cannot agree with you is your profile picture!I know this is a global fansite and alot of people wont understand this but i am a massive bluenose haha
February 28, 201115 yr People, let us not forget that there is at least one person who works for the band that has an account here. So, to 100% doubt this locust7 dude would be naive. Just sayin'.

February 28, 201115 yr I believe locust7. Even in 42's last blog it seemed like they were still pretty deep in the recording process. And then there was that other article that said to expect the album "towards the autumn". So it just makes sense. Plus, he's been right plenty of times before. Why not now? Also, I think it would make it pretty special to debut some songs at the festivals before the album comes out.
February 28, 201115 yr I think the wait for LP5 is making everyone frustraighted I think so too! It's because they keep teasing us with info without actually giving anything away.

February 28, 201115 yr i definitely agree, i hate the idea of hearing this stuff before i can listen to the whole album as its meant to be heard. technically, this isn't really a problem unless you're attending one of the festivals, as you can just refrain from listening to audio of new material until the album is released. :P
February 28, 201115 yr yes i no that, but im not strong enough! ill end up listening immediately! ill crumble! cumble and fall! crumble and fall like an animal! :embarrassed:
February 28, 201115 yr My opinion on what we'll hear at the festivals this summer (assuming that locust7 is correct and the album won't be out by then ofc). We'll hear some Viva stuff, the singles (most of 'em), Politik and maybe one or two surprises, at these festival shows. Try looking to the Crisis-setlists for some kind of idea of what they think they want to be playing, especially when there is no pressure to play/promote specifically a new album. I had hoped for some more old/rare stuff at those two shows, but they stuck quite safe and even played stuff like Glass of Water and Cemetries of London (which really puzzled me :S ). EDIT: Oh, I'm guessing U.F.O too :P

February 28, 201115 yr  me too :P I'm not even strong enough to wait and listen to the audio. I'm going to try to see them at T in the Park.
February 28, 201115 yr If it is true and the album won't be released til October, I guess the setlist at the festivals will be similar to the ones they played at the Crisis gigs + some new songs. Just a guess. My opinion on what we'll hear at the festivals this summer (assuming that locust7 is correct and the album won't be out by then ofc). February 28, 201115 yr If it turns out that it won't be out until October then I would be very happy with an EP (it sounds like they have a lot of material) or even another non-album single release this summer. It would help to promote all the summer gigs and keep the excitement level up while we wait for the actual album. Would a summer EP steal some of LP5's thunder?
February 28, 201115 yr I really hope we don't have to wait until October. I think locust7 is a reliable source, but man -- I am getting so impatient. I am really, really looking forward to a new album.
February 28, 201115 yr You probably mean just over. Viva was released in June 2008. ;) It's funny, I haven't really been in a Coldplay mood since 2009. Christmas Lights tried to drag me back in, but it wasn't enough. I haven't listened to a single Coldplay album from start-to-finish in some time. The most exposure I get to them these days is if one of their songs comes up on shuffle (and sometimes I'll even skip it, eep!). I don't anticipate this changing until we get a firm release date for LP5, but I'm excited to be excited again, if that makes any sense in the slightest. But the EP was released in November 2008 wasn't it? ;)
February 28, 201115 yr An unidentified flying object :P yeah, I know what it means..but I don't get the connection with LP5? if there's any? :uhoh: or maybe I just didn't get it right :disappointed: I don't know about an EP, but I think, if the album is not ready before the festivals, it would make sense if they released a single, something like they did with Christmas Lights, you know. It would keep everyone excited.
February 28, 201115 yr Whaa?! Don't believe that tracklisting. I can confirm the change of plans in Coldplay camp regarding the schedule of the release of LP5, originally before Summer. Hope people can wait until October. Everybody who guessed October as the month of release deserves a prize. Just my two cents on it. October? Really? Isn't that a bit long since you said LP5's been recorded since December? :o
February 28, 201115 yr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artists_and_repertoireArtists and repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label. --> Parlophone's A&R for Coldplay: LP5 expected "towards the autumn" :nice:
