When do you think LP5 will come out?

Featured Replies

Thank you for information, locust. :nice:

But I also think that the Polish DJ has maybe already recieved a promo copy of upcoming single. I remember I saw a VLVODAAHF cd that said "Do not play live until June 12th" on it's front side... Maybe he has something like that...

I don't think that they will release a single all of the sudden...there's something call marketing and promotion and when you're such a big band, that is very important...things are shaping up but I am still holding to what the CEO of Parlophone said - towards the autumn...

and I also bet that 23.42% of the people who voted in the poll are going to be wrong...

^ I think that if they announce a new single two weeks before the releas date, it will get enough promotion.

I believe that the announcement for the release date (or probably a release itself) at the end of this month or early next month -- oh wait, Everyone's telling this same thing--

In my opinion it's possible that EMI has given advances of listening to radio stations in EMI HQ's, in fact that's how I first listened in advance to anyone "Violet Hill" (One secret longly kept and now unveiled to all Coldplayers), but I don't work for a record company, nor am I musician or a DJ at a radio stations. That's something I will keep private.

I didn't have to sign confidentiality terms but we were told to remain mostly silent. In fact, I didn't tell all the truth back in the day. I knew the lyrics of "Violet Hill" but the details were enough to confirm later that in fact I listend to it. And I created expectations in the fans which was my main objective, which I think I complied bacjk in the day.

And something important, for all of you. The band (at least their team) and their producers (or their assistants) read eveything you and us are writing here. That's no secret. In fact, it's a fact that somebody named "Marcus" and from Germany has tried to contact privately in order to know who I am.

Which I request something, could somebody from EMI Spain already organise what they did back in the day with fans? Contact them again They're gonna be as private as the level you want them or anybody who is a listener, but that would great, a good way of promoting, but without giving so much away (as much as the record company wants) to the general public. For me that's free publicity in forums, bloggers, among fans and others not costing any money. The last time it was very efficient...

My last thoughts of the day:

If they're keeping the album (as a whole) as a secret is that I believe that there's something big awaiting and I also think the people attending festivals to see them are going to have their expectations complied.

Expect a big anouncement sooner than you think.

That's all I can say, folks

Nice one. Good to hear that representatives of the band read this forum.

Still I'm not convinced. I don't understand how it works - keep it at secret. The sooner we would get info, the sooner buzz will start. At least songs name, title and date of release wouldn't spoil anything.

But it could be another reason for secrecy - EP sucks and they don't want negative buzz before the fence and still trying to figure out what songs should be included/recorded etc.

No, I don't think so. My opinion is that they could be twisting two or three songs in terms of structure, guitar overdubs or ambient landscapes (Mr. Eno's contributions), or writing one or two new (at the quickest possible way) but not anything else.

My belief (not fact) in this moment, is that there are parts of the record being already mixed (Markus Dravs involved apart from the main mixers) or maybe (I say maybe) that it's possible that it's been totally mixed in this moment.

In fact, if there's a single to arrive soon, in terms of a few weeks (like Mr. Buckland said) then it must have been already mixed or will be mixed in terms of just days, before the live acts begin.

Have you checked Michael H. Brauer's (one of the main mixers of "Viva" and "Christmas Lights") twitter (twitter.com/mhb850) or website (www.mbrauer.com) in the last few weeks? He remains very silent about current projects..., except for courses in France, and then he's not in his New York studio. And Mr. Martin was photographed in New York just days ago.

What do you all think of this...? Jaust saying, but anyway, the opinion of your coldplaying friend and neighbour "the locust"

Heh. I see he's mixing The Kooks new album as well.

I fully believe Brauer has been mixing large portions of the Coldplay album this month. No updates on his twitter of note the past month. Obviously been told to keep a lid on it.

Very very secretive process from the lads.

I guess you do but can't tell...

Anyways, I found some pics that I've never seen before:

Woow!!

Awesome !

I cant be more excited!

I cant wait For the single the álbum and the whole era!!

Before June we will have the 1st single I'm pretty sure :D

Edit

I always thought that things I dont understand should have been on the main tracklist

Thanks a lot for the information!

A new song to be listened to all of a sudden would be a perfect marketing strategy. Everyone would be excited straight away, they'd want to listen to it at that very time and the excitement wouldn't be fading.

Plus, releasing records just when they're done will be the future. Still I think the album will come with a (short?) delay.

Looking forward to the next few days and weeks, escpecially the festivals, such a lot!

an announcement sooner than we think? :wideeyed:

I hope it comes out on my birthday again <3

I didn't think about it! My birthday is the 28th of this month, it would be great if they release a new single or at least some new information about the album that day! :D

:escaping:

My pessimism regarding the release date of LP5 is reaching remarkable levels. I'm so frustrated! I'm not even feeling excited about it right now, because I feel like it's never going to come :\

^ April... third time's the charm, or three strikes and you're out?

I think that we could have some news this month, but I believe that the single won't be out until June.

Hopefully we get something. Even a Roadie #42 blog that actually tells us some news would be nice.

Dear locust, I'm wondering about your name is it related to the locust tree or insect? And also we are literaly begging for some old stuff from the boys at the festivals do you think they will sing songs like Amsterdam& yes warning sign? Thankies

I have thought all along that they could not be headlining summer festivals all over the world without a new album out...4 LPs are not enough to keep mainstream rockers (not die-hard CP fans) interested with old songs, you know?....Just sayin'...it would be the best plan for them to release a new album before the touring begins..

This is what I believe as well. There's only a few weeks ahead til the festivals start, that gets me excited! :wideeyed: and the possibility of an important announcement any day now makes me even more nervous and expectant :P
