Parlophone's A&R for Coldplay: LP5 expected "towards the autumn"

Featured Replies

Don't really get why people can not just wait until the album is good, ready and a release date is annouced! CP will know when the album is ready and only them will know!

Guess they will play new songs at the festivals to showcase them and promote them - which would also mean they won't have to do lots of other promo for the album!

we all understand that, but were anxious is all were saying

You don't know your Coldplay history my friend. They did the same in 2002 a couple of months before AROBTTH came out.

Really?

Ohh, maybe LP5 will follow Glastonbury a couple of months later!...that's not TOOOO long i guess.

I did hear a radio 1 DJ once discuss that the new approach is to make music available as fast as possible in hopes of minimizes the number of people downloading low quality leaks, and maximize the number of people legally downloading high quality albums. I can only hope this is applied sooner rather than later. The other thing that's annoying about waiting for a new album, is getting that single months and months in advance.

Even in Philadelphia they are saying to expect the album in autumn! I was listening to the radio yesterday and after playing Violet Hill and Yellow, they said Coldplay is a great band, expect the new 5th album in autumn!!!

^ probably because they read that article

^ Yeah, stupid A&R dude and his lies. Radio stations across the globe now are probably saying "It'll be autumn." Pshht.

lol

I want them to take their time. Of course I would like it to be released soon rather than later, but what if LP5 is Coldplay's best yet?

I would love some songs, though! ;)

I´m really curious about the festival setlist if the album comes out only towards the autumn...

Me too! Keeping my fingers crossed hoping it will come out sooner! But then again - I don´t want to rush them in making their greatest album yet!

But it is so hard to wait though......cause soon the fangirly days will start again, when I`m going to "Where the action is" in Sweden the 28. of june!!! It´s going to be fantastic! :D

Well, they do have a history of releasing albums between May and August.

I believe they will release it in August which is sad, cause I want tehm to play new songs on the 6th of July here in Portugal :)

:P but seriously if they do release it on the 3rd then i will go crazy

and it will be my fave Coldplay album even if its not that great

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO IT MUST COME OUT IN MAY!!!!

No, that's not my birthday, but May is closer to now than any other suggestion on here :P

but we might get a good album if they take their time

I completely agree (or "i agree completely xD)

we have to wait for a great album!

but we might get a good album if they take their time

true, but I can not help but think of the Beatles, who made the best records in history with only months apart. but in some ways I agree with you ...i can't wait:cry:

Q. Dear Oracle, I am a huge Coldplay fan. Not size-wise, but I truly love this band and their current output. I was even on the boat in the Christmas Lights video. Yet I am peeved. Peeved and annoyed. Testy, you might say. Why, I don't hear you ask? How can a band headline, like, fifteen or sixteen major festivals with no new stuff. It's insane. Apart from myself and other huge fans, some may be big size-wise, no one cares. Seriously. Please tell me what I'm hearing about the next albums release date is false and that it's actually coming before the festivals. Otherwise this group is gonna go down like a lead balloon.

The Oracle replies:

Well nowhereman... I can see how a fan of a band waiting for a new album can feel frustrated at not hearing new material at festivals but I passionately disagree.

I know that back in 2002 they played new songs at Glastonbury after a mini UK tour showcasing AROBTTH but that's because when they booked to play there originally, the album release date had been scheduled for before the event but was put back.

You have to remember that festivals are not usual concerts in that not everyone is there to see Coldplay. It's great to go to a festival and see a band you've never seen before. You may know all the songs but wouldn't necessarily be a fan. I love having a great time courtesy of a band that I'm not that familiar with. Given that not everyone there is a fan, it's different "rules".

I contest what you say about the band going down like a lead balloon; you may as well be saying that every band who is appearing at every festival better be playing new songs or not bother and I have a strong feeling that you're not saying that at all as that's utter nonsense, sorry.

Just to repeat what I said on previous post, if you're looking for Team Oracle you may have noticed the server went down and unfortunately it wiped this week's responses from the system. They will now appear on Sunday as I'm afraid commitments mean I cannot address the problem until then. Sorry folks!

I understand her point..and I kinda agree in that touring and festivals are different and that there will be lots of people at the festivals who are not Coldplay fans and will want to hear all the songs we know and love...( Honestly, if I went to a festival to see a band I like but I'm not a fan and they play mainly all new stuff I would be a bit lost :wtf:) but please one or two new songs :disappointed: :bomb: please.

 wow those are a lot of festivals :stunned:
