Radiohead

Recommended Posts

haha... well every show that I've been to has been amazing! They are just one of those bands that are always on their game and don't disappoint!

What were some of the best songs they played?

Also were people throwing glowsticks during House of Cards? (like people did on '06)

Just saw this. Every song was brilliant, but if I had to single out a few, I'd say Bloom, Idioteque, Nude and House of Cards. Also surprised how good mr. Magpie and daily mail were, felt like completely different songs.

And people were throwing glowsticks the whole time, I even threw a few.

Yeah this is turning out to be a bit of a clusterf*ck...

I went to The Palace this morning to verify some info. This is what I posted earlier on WASTE:

Okay so I just got back from the Palace to ask the questions I mentioned earlier (see prior page). Here's the responses:

  1. NO porta potties.
  2. They won't escort people in before the doors open to use the restrooms.
  3. The guy wasn't entirely sure about waiting inside (there are two sets of doors) versus outside. Let's just assume it is outside.
  4. He said all (3) entrances will open at the same time. So I suppose we should be ready for a free-for-all. This kind of sucks.
  5. & 6. He still seemed a little confused about the WASTE ticketless GA people. Although he did say for sure that we need to bring our ID, credit card used to purchase it, and the confirmation printout. But when I asked if WASTE gets early entry, he said that ticketmaster and WASTE ticketless enter at the same time (5:30 or 6:00, he wasn't sure), but "fanclub" will probably be able to go in a half hour early. HUH?!?! Isn't that what WASTE is supposed to be? He seemed confused. He said I should call back after noon, and hopefully they'll have it sorted out by then.

And this is the part that is a big WTF... he said the parking lot doesn't open until a few hours before the event. I had a puzzled look on my face, because I was able to pull into the parking lot just fine (from the North entrance on Lapeer Road). He said well yeah that's for people coming to the box office (to purchase tickets for other events); if they see people in their cars they will tell them to leave. And I don't think he's joking because there were a few people in a car next to me when I first pulled in (I could tell they were there for the concert), and by the time I left they were gone. I told him there were people that planned to get there around noon, and he was like "well we're gonna tell them they have to leave the parking lot and come back later, that's just Palace policy." D: And I didn't even think about it until now, but I wonder if they do that so they can charge everyone for parking...

This just sounds like a clusterf*ck. I'm still going to aim to get there around 1-ish I think. I mean, what else can I do?!?

And this is what somebody else who went to the box office later found out...

They are just going to send you home like they did me if you are leaving now. You're wasting gas.

Fellow W.A.S.T.E.rs! I just came back from the Palace Box Office and they chatted with me and their higher-ups for quite a while. Told me to go to THE WEST ATRIUM outside the Pistons Lockerroom store and there will be a line outside the doors for W.A.S.T.E. ticket holders. THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL ONLY LET PEOPLE STAND AT 4 O CLOCK. This means that us hardcore fans that wanted front row and were willing to wait in line all day to get them, well.. we probably won't get those seats/standing area.

They also told me to bring the credit card that I purchased the tickets with, e-mail confirmation, and my ID. As a previous poster has stated they will probably let people in around 5 and yes this is totally fucked.

If anything I think this speaks for the Palace's incompetence and why Radiohead never fucking comes here.

I'm almost thinking I should have just got seated tickets in Section 101 (the WASTE section) when they unexpectedly released them on ticketmaster last Friday. THIS IS BS.

I heard it was a spectacular set.

Officially back from Manchester, TN and my verdict on Radiohead at Bonnaroo:

Three main reasons:

1) The band was uncharacteristically making a lot of mistakes. The most notable example is Feral where someone was horribly off pitch for the first half of the song.

2) You had much of the crowd expecting another Bonnaroo 2006 so they couldn't help but be disappointed.

2) Thom's voice was completely shot by the 1st encore. Also sounded drunk on a lot of songs.

Awesome! How did you manage to get into the venue so early? I thought doors open at 630
They let people in the concourse (?) at 5:00, WASTE people first. Yay! Then we had to split up into 4 "fan club" box office lines to get our wristbands and entrance tickets, then move over to one of 6 different lines. Then they opened the main doors at 6:00. Then we ran down the long, horribly uneven stairs to (the back of) GA, and similar to you and Christa we noticed open spots by Ed so that's where we went. What a relief after all the mess from the disorganization at the Palace!

So, as you noticed before I posted what the Palace employees were telling people; they would send people away if they tried to enter the parking lot before 4:00. Well, I decided that even though I went up there in the morning, just for shiggles I'll go up again around 1:30 to check things out in person. I am SO glad I did that, because the Palace changed their minds (probably due to numerous complaints) and let people start to wait outside. So I booked it back to my house (just a few miles up the road) to pick up hubby, camera and tickets, and booked it back. One of the WASTErs was writing numbers on hands to indicate order arrival, and I was 63. But by the time the process I noted above went through, we were more like 100 or so. But hey... everything worked out!

I felt bad for a couple of girls that were next to us outside in line; they decided to leave to go use the restroom at the McDonalds up the road, and when they came back about 15 minutes later the Palace started charging for parking! So they had to pay $15 to get back inside, even though they were there before us! That made me realize that indeed that is why the Palace wanted everyone to wait until 4:00... because they wanted to be able to charge everyone for parking. Ugh.

Carrie.

Be prepared for lots of Ed!glances. :wink3:

they are the best, he knows how to work that front row!
Yes indeed! And he was actually chatting with a few of us between a couple of songs, that was great!

I was a little annoyed by the security guard that was in between Ed and Thom the whole time, because he almost seemed to have a condescending "wtf is this music" attitude the whole time. He kept glancing at the other security dude by us and they were laughing. I'm thinking to myself just shutup and look forward and do your job, numnuts!

I'll post some pictures shortly. I did get a few videos, but not too many because I wanted to enjoy the concert more (plus the guy next to me was pretty much recording the whole thing, so I can just rely on his vids if he loads them up to YouTube in the next few days).

Oh and I found it rather amusing that after completely avoiding watching/listening to Identikit this whole time so that way I could listen to it live as my first experience... they didn't even play it. Well, my plot was foiled! (Although I did get a full video of Full Stop, maybe I'll try to upload that tomorrow. Err, I suppose that would be today.)

The venue situation looks like a major clusterfuck. Why so many different gates and lines and whatnot? They were only making it worse for themselves. I feel sorry for the girls who had to pay for parking there but at least the car park was close. It could be much worse.

I'm jealous you had the chance to chat with Ed! (Great pics, btw, I love them!)

Carrie, your zoom is awesome, what camera do you have? once again so happy for you :dazzled:

It's a Canon PowerShot SD780 IS. Small little bugger, it can fit in your pocket! Although like I mentioned, most of the pics would have turned out better if that fog from the Caribou set hadn't lingered around; the camera had a hard time focusing on the auto setting. I could have turned it to manual; it would have turned been more "crisp" in terms of the coloring, but it would have been more blurry (if that makes any sense).

Here are some of the videos; remember to clicky up to HD! (first one's for Mike, ha ha ha):

^^^^Great pics and videos!

I don't know if you guys know this, but there's a Twitter account called @radioheadlive and they tweet setlist updates during the shows, which is awesome. Very exciting to read, especially if you're seeing them soon.

House of Cards[/color]!

That's 3 of 4 shows down. One more left... in Montreal! :D

I would have liked to have those 2 (for various reasons).

Ah well, I suppose I can't really complain!

We had Kid A also; btw in regard to that, when I was waiting in line outside, multiple people were like "omfg *@$@#*&$_$*" your license plate!
