Waiting for news ... :(

We're all waiting, but what I want now is something to speculate on.

I can't believe it's almost exactly 2 years since we first heard ETIAW... :o

And its still exciting when I listen to it today. A sign of a great song. Haters gonna hate, ETIAW is fantastic.

Those 2 years have flown incredibly fast...

Re-reading this thread is very funny :laugh3:

We were all like: "Mylo Xyloto, WTF?! :stunned:" :laugh3:

some of us are still like: "Mylo Xyloto, WTF?! :stunned:!

and not just about the name

Mylo Xyloto is kick-ass. Not necessarily a step forward in quality (its arguable), but definitely a step forward in Coldplay's evolution. I'd take something completely new over a AROBTTH 2.0 or VLVODAAHF 2.0

Completely agree with you here. They really showed their creative side in the MX era. I take a lot of things into account to judge an album. For me it is not just the music, it is the big picture. They made up their own characters, a story, their clothing, the song symbols, and their own art! There is just so much about the MX era that was great. The live shows were the best I think. They really enjoyed playing, you could definitely see that. They sounded great, the light show was extraordinary, and the Xylobands were such a great addition to the tour. Maybe the album was not their best, but I think overall the MX era was the best. The songs fit in with the big picture. I didn't really become a Coldplay fan until just before Viva La Vida was released, so MX is the only era I have experienced from anticipation to the very end. It is hard for me to choose a favorite album, it all depends on my mood. Some days, I only listen to old stuff, and others I listen to MX the most. Either way, I like the fact that they are progressing and are growing as artists. They enjoy and love what they do, and that is really all that matters.

i agree they needed the evolution. and how far they evolve or change their sound is not of great significance. however the direction and quality of the music is. i think they went in the wrong direction with MX. sure its a great pop album and maybe the best theres been. but i would like to forget it was made by coldplay. if take that or new kids on the block had released it then sure and maybe i would have actually enjoyed it a lot more.

^ I guess it's just a matter of how much it irks a fan that Coldplay is being associated with mainstream pop. Personally, I could care less, but it is bittersweet to realize that they have moved far away from the AROBTTH style.

Honestly as long as they make great music (which I know they will) for this album, I'll be happy. As long as they don't stray outrageously far from their older stuff.

Hey guys, I love Coldplay

Welcome. You've come to the right place.

It would be amazing if LP6 is exactly the opposite to Mylo Xyloto.

^ Good grief I feel bad for you. You're missing out on a great album.

I feel bad for you if you want the next album to sound anything like MX, that would be boring. ;)

Obviously from my comment above I wouldn't want LP6 to be like MX so I don't know how you made that connection. I always want Coldplay to evolve. I just don't get all the negativity around MX. I mean if you don't like it, that's fine, but the era is essentially over so lets put it to rest. After all this is an LP6 thread

MX was a great album that wasn't up to the expectations of a lot of fans. Not quality wise, but everyone expected either Viva 2.0 or maybe even a Rush 2.0. WHat they got was something much different and even I admit that I wasn't a fan in the beginning, but MX is one of my favorite albums now. Pop or not, there was a lot of strong tunes on the album and to say that it was anything worse than at least good is something I don't agree with at all.

It would be very awesome if lp6 would be a mixture of all the highlights of all the previous eras. But whatever the next album will be, I hope they include our country in their tour

^ You're from the Philippines? Sorry they haven't come there. Hopefully one day... any Coldplay fan deserves to experience the joy of their live shows.
