Hurts Like Heaven on Olympic Games 2012?

 I have one idea of possible explanation for interviews saying it to be likely single and then others saying to maybe scrap it from MX:

I think they will ,as they said , not release it on MX :stunned:, tease us of an EP this year, and they could probably release it near February - March 2012. HLH would not be on the album, as Billboard magazine said, but it would be on the EP , and be a single, as Q magazine said (It could be released in similar ways to Life In Technicolor ii). There would be an MX single on April :lol:and The HLH single could be released in June :D, and it would end up being the anthem to open the Olympic Games on London 2012 in July:sneaky:. That's my theory. What do you think? Enjoy or hate...

If Coldplay played the Olympics, my life would be complete! I thought they should've played in Beijing. Life In Technicolor (instrumental) fits the aesthetic to me :P

Aren't they doing the olympics anyways? Like writing a song with people.. I remember reading that here a while ago.

The only reason LiT II wasn't on VLV as LiT is thatit wasn't finished. Hurts Like Heaven is already a polished gem.

it would be so awesome for coldplay to perform in the olympics!! :D

EDIT:

:blank:

Pointless thread, right?

no....they didnt say "Hurts Like Heaven" wont be on the album, they said that Hurts Like Heaven or Moving To Mars may make the cut...i personally think HLH WILL make it, its such a great song and the band plays it with such energy, it'll make the album..well i hope lol!

I was going to the olympics but not anymore :bigcry:

:stunned:

SO YOU AREN'T COMING TO BELGIUM OR WHAT? :bigcry:

Personally, I think it's a really silly idea to take one of the greatest songs you've ever written, and leave it off the album that the fans are dying to hear. Chris Martin's not that mean.

I surely can't be the only one that would rather have had Viva start with Life In Technicolor II and not Life In Technicolor....?

If they continue with what Vancouver did with the Cultural Olympiad Coldplay should be playing a show or two.

Vancouver had free concerts, exhibits from all the different Provence's of Canada and a bunch of other cool things. Big names on Canadian radios played free concerts nightly at three different outdoor venues for the whole two weeks. With the biggest name act being City and Colour playing a medium sized venue for cheap a couple times.

However I do not know if London is doing all that stuff. They all jumped down Vancouver's throat for just being a giant party, but it was fun and about the sports. I imagine they will have free High Tea though.

Well...

Last night's events have completely trampled all over this theory but I still think/hope that they will be at the Olympics with some great songs off of the album!!!!

I know this thread is old, but I thought there were rumors about Coldplay singing the opening song of the Olympics?

^Impossible : they have a gig in Montreal the night of the opening ceremony :(

I'm hoping Coldplay will perform in the Olympic opening ceremony. I noticed that they have a show in Canada on 7/27 so I guess not. Quite disappointed! I mean which British singer is better than Coldplay?

Sir Paul McCartney?

But maybe they'll do something with the closing ceremony?
