Let's hope the "main outfit" isn't very similar too.

I think so. They're filming something at a restricted area imo.

(YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS *faints twice*):D

We should be in for an epic set of news then later:cool:

well, a different perspective of a potential holi themed MV from a local paper. any time coldplay go out and do something like this, there are two acknowledgements to it. just like ASFOS in sydney :)

i'm praying we hear a new song tonight!;)

NEW SINGLE HYPE ^O^

OBSERVATION - Jonny is playing a Stratocaster, which was his main guitar for the 1st half of the MX tour....... (80% of the time he's playing a Telecaster thinline)

I think it's a criticism that Coldplay might be culturally appropriating Indian culture/themes since Holli is an Indian celebration in the same way that the film Slumdog Millionaire has been criticized as using Indian images for Western consumption. Will we see a backlash like that against POC's music video? Perhaps.

I do hope Coldplay treads respectfully though - it is indeed easy to use these very beautiful images from cultures that are not your own and then turn around and not acknowledge or qualify that you've done that. Not that they shouldn't, since I imagine this will be an amazing song. But still. The article also points out the potential for post-colonial tension given that Coldplay is British.

I do think the article was unnecessarily harsh about Chris Martin/Coldplay though - without acknowledgement of their efforts to do good things for the world (see: Chris's recent trip to India, meetings with government leaders, visits to schools).

People keep finding things to complain about. The guys do so many good things for everyone but in the moment they try to transport a different culture into one of they projects they're criticized. This world...

Holy shit, they grilled Chris. Yikes.

Yeah I was opening it expecting to read something uplifting, but it quickly turned into a more "what is this?!?!" kind of thing.

So I've finally decided to call it a day and head over to my brother's place in mumbai. My legs and back are killing me from standing since 12:30 pm (its now 10 pm)..but I got to see chris martin at least!

I was trudging along a little disappointed towards a mall to grab some grub, and when I entered this mall, I saw this wonderful old man..probably in his 80s playing some really beautiful jazz standards on the piano..nobody was paying attention but he was enjoying it so much himself. I stood by and just listened for a few minutes and it was amazing. I went up to him and thanked him because he made a slightly disappointing evening much better.

It puts things into perspective really. Yes, I do love coldplay and they're amazing, but I was waiting all day searching for that little bit of happiness from meeting them, and instead I got it out of the blue from this wonderful old man who was playing at the mall. :)

Sorry if this sounds all mushy but it really was quite nice!

That article makes Coldplay look like a band that disrespects everyone, every culture and such. Let's be honest, Coldplay would never do anything disrespectful to anyone and we know that well. Let's forget about that utterly disrespectful article, please.

Exactly, I didn't even give it a proper read....

Thanks for reporting in once in a while. Cool that you got to see Chris too.

Awesome! Congrats [emoji1]

Btw that article is absolute rubbish. Coldplay is making an uplifting album so why the hell would they show something depressing? And if they wanted to 'cash in' on the indian market they would've done so five years ago when the indian economy was doing well enough for people to afford expensive concert tickets. This person just seems to be pissed that she didnt get to meet the band and got shooed away by security.
