LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"

Featured Replies

I was thinking that they could do with A Head Full Of Dreams something similar to what they did in the Ghost Stories era, when they invited the fans to take part in a worldwide treasure hunt, by hiding the lyrics in libraries across the planet. Chris handwritten lyrics were hidden in ghost story books, with clues to their location being revealed via the band's official Twitter. The clues and puzzles, once solved, led fans to their local libraries where they found the envelope containing the lyrics and a 'golden ticket' for fans to travel to London for one show at the Royal Albert Hall.

So this time they could hide 7 albums (for LP7) around the world, and let the fans the chance to search that treasure and find it. For example, if they apply the model of the seven continents (considering Antarctica and America divided into North America and South America): North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica, they could hide an album for each continent. This could be a possibility, but Antarctica would be a hard one. And they could call the competition "Lucky Sevens".

Coldplay, I hope you're listening

I think that the music video is going to be available in 360 degrees on YouTube.

I remember reading something about the director of the music video filmed in India having done work on 360 degree videos in the past. Having just seen the news that this years MTV EMA's (which Coldplay has been nominated for an award in) will be streaming in 360 degrees, virtual-reality, it's possible that the music video could be released before then and replayed on the stream or it could debut there.

If the video was filmed for 360 degree viewing, it may explain why it's taking so long for it to be released after the filming in India.

Just a theory though.

Oh God please let this be true. It would be cool to have a video that you can change the view of at any time. The YouTube 360 thing is pretty cool. I have a cheap VR headset similar to Google Cardboard. I would finally have a great reason to use it more lol.

Guys! Halloween is very soon! It's the best day to end ghost stories era and start a new one!

i like the theory of the video filmed in india being in VR. explains why the video was shot a while ago and still no word on even a release date. hope that's true.

News could be just around the corner' date=' if you type Coldplay into Google, it says Coldplay album to be released next month, that was only posted a few hours ago.[/quote']

And it's yet another clickbait. Once you actually go into the article it says "in the next FEW months" as a "source" said (how reliable are these "sources" anyway? Like c'mon this has been going on for months now.)

The only new bit of info in that article is that they could be potentially showing off Ghost Stories too, since they really never toured that one, and a lot of fans would be excited to see that one too.

Though this is a clickbait article, they do sometimes have new bits of info in them.:D

Coldplay I hope you're reading this forum because some of your fans got the best ideas on the planet right now... :D

I agree... that would be so cool to see a VR music video tho!! Now I know why they said it would be worth the wait! I got it now!:D It all makes sense! This is the only possible explanation... we've been waiting a month and half now!

But still... if the MV takes a million years then why couldn't they just release the audio before then?

But still... if the MV takes a million years then why couldn't they just release the audio before then?

there is a bigger impact when you release the MV directly instead of just the audio. look at midnight or even adele's latest single. you can generate hype about the video as much as about the song itself. specially when you are making a sort of come back after a very low key (by coldplay standards) era.

Now I know why they said it would be worth the wait!

Who said that? :embarrassed:

And if the MV was indeed shot in VR, I think it'll be one of their best ever.

I don't know if anyone saw the tweet that the director of the music video put on twitter a couple of weeks back when they were filming the video. He said he was filming in VR. I forgot the name of the director but it was his first time directing a music video.

But still... if the MV takes a million years then why couldn't they just release the audio before then?

Coldplay may want to draw more attention to the video itself, especially if it's been filmed in VR. And you could make the same argument about the album: if it's done, why don't they release it? They wouldn't because it's all about marketing and releasing it at the time when they and the record company will get the most money possible. ;)

That makes so much sense

Have you checked on the Wikipedia lately?

Brinton Bryan is the name of the music video director. He is currently specialising in virtual reality filming.

We already know that Coldplay has had experiences in the past of meddling with virtual reality (as shown in the video below).

[video=youtube;hdo6jqFDMQw]

Virtual Reality is 100% something that Coldplay is interested in.

We also now know that the MTV EMA's will be streamed in virtual reality. Coincidence? I think not! ;)

All the rumours have been pointing towards an October release date for this music video.

If it's not streamed during the MTV EMA's, I'm still confident that the music video will be 360 degrees, virtual-reality.

Reminder: This is just a theory so let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best! :)

Well we now know that Mat Whitecross was not involved. Wow, that must be one hell of an experience if you're first music video as a director is with an artist as successful as Coldplay.

I do hope that there will be a way for people like myself who cannot afford a VR headset to enjoy the video anyways... I don't know how it all works when they film in 360 degrees and whether or not they can make a "normal" version of the video.

Its cool that they're trying some new stuff (like with the Ink MV from last era), but tbh, i'm only luke-warm towards this VR thing. Disclaimer, I have seen and experienced the 360 video thing before.

Interesting, that music video is actually very well done... okay, that clears things up for a slightly more old-fashioned person like myself. Thanks!

I'm doing something GS-related on Halloween! It's in the "remixes" section.

Well the lads just won Best Rock at the MTV EMAs!

I remember when they announced the ASFOS VR video for Samsung, they also said they were in talks about doing more VR stuff. I remember some of us thought about them streaming their concerts in VR as well. They would charge money for it, but nothing like regular tickets. That would be awesome for people who can't make it or just so people can watch at their leisure. The music video being VR would make sense from the talks last year as well.

I'm counting down the days!

Think Sparky asked this in the other thread, but did they have some sort of appearance (live or prerecorded) for the award?

A crazy theory just popped into my mind... the color wheel is confirmed as a part of this era's outfits. The mandala, a symbol of Indian culture that was featured in rainbow form on the outfits, is a circle. 360 degrees=a full circle. A circle can represent a cycle of beginning, ending, and restarting... similar to the Hindu belief in reincarnation. The band is finishing "something" with AHFOD, but it's not going to be the end of the band. They will still be around to continue on.

There could be a LOT of symbolism going on here!

EDIT: In Judeo-Christian theology, the number 7 represents completion as well... and this is LP7. I might be overanalyzing all of this and coming up with meanings and symbols that aren't significant, but it's still fun to theorize. :happy2:
