Also, huge congratulations to Coldplay for winning the EMA! You deserved it, and I'm certain that Coldplay does have the best rock... really, time and time again they've put the genre of alt-rock to it's full potential, and I enjoy nearly every song they've made in that genre. Great job :)

there is a bigger impact when you release the MV directly instead of just the audio. look at midnight or even adele's latest single. you can generate hype about the video as much as about the song itself. specially when you are making a sort of come back after a very low key (by coldplay standards) era.

But seriously, it's been a month, why wouldn't they just tell us or tease us about it already? That still don't make any sense... even if it is a VR project they should have said something about it already. But no. Outside of the performance of Amazinbg Day at GC, they have been DEAD QUIET SILENT about it since the MV. That's just freaking strange, what's up with that?

I don't know if anyone saw the tweet that the director of the music video put on twitter a couple of weeks back when they were filming the video. He said he was filming in VR. I forgot the name of the director but it was his first time directing a music video.

 

This confirms it all. This explains perfectly why they're taking so long. No wonder it's been a month and a freaking half.

 

And, if it's a VR experience, then I'm sure that you'd have to listen to the song for the first time while watching it in VR to get the full experience as to not miss out on it. I'm pretty sure that's what they're aiming for here; that's why they haven't released the audio yet, the music is meant to be played with the VR for the first time to get the most striking experience.

 

This does not however explain Coldplay's silence. Why couldn't they at least tease about it?

Wikipedia is saying that Phil Tari, a mixing engineer, is working on A Head Full Of Dreams. He's mixed Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" as well as Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)". He's also worked with Rihanna, Jay Z, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Usher, and all of the other big pop artists. Which obviously means that those pop backgrounds will obviously be somewhat apparent in AHFOD. :cry:

 

I like those artists but there is no need for Coldplay to go in their direction. I want more Coldplay sound.

 

But it looks like Phil Tari is going to poppify this album at least a little. Hopefully that doesn't mean radio-poppify it. Unfortunately, from the looks of things, he seems to be a radio-pop mixer guy. :cry:

Now that we've figured out what's probably making the music video take so long, it makes sense that the single still isn't out. Maybe the band is using this time to finish the album while the video is prepared.

Numerous sources have said that the band is actually finished the album, and from the looks of things, it doesn't look like they're wrong at all. :)

All i have to say is that when the new single is dropped or when the music video is released, there is going to be a HUGE sigh of relief on this thread that will be equal to the winds of a category 5 hurricane (200mph winds)

Hmm, I thought Jonny was seen at the Bakery very recently, but you're probably right. The album could be finished or in the final stages of mixing and mastering where the band doesn't need to be around. They might be enjoying the last bit of downtime before a new era by spending time with their families and attending award ceremonies.

 

Edit: Actually it was the entire band at the Bakery or Beehive with Team BRIT.
