Chris Martin, Nile Rodgers and Avicii collaborating for a new song

Featured Replies

I just transposed it down a semitone and it sounds a lot better imo. Sounds a lot more like Chris to me.

So there are some points where Chris' voice sounds a bit too deep, but overall I think it sounds more natural. I recommend listening to the transposed version a few times, and then go back to the original to see the difference. You can really hear it. Let me know what you guys think, as I am really curious if it's just me not hearing correctly lol.

True Believer (Transposed)

It's not great. But it's okay. Far better overall than Magic and True Love imo. I also think lyrically it's better than much of GS. The lyrics are a little weird but not nearly as cliche or cheesy. And no copy-cat-Adam-Lavine-vocal-aerobics-NONSENSE. The piano parts are nice and it has somewhat of an 80's vibe to it. EDM is usually far, far more derivative. There are a few interesting things happening here, musically.

Chris might just be lending backing vocals. There's still a chance for another track. But tbh, those lyrics don't sound like they were written by him plus, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't let his vocals be given an "effect".

Guys, I just visited the wiki page for Avicii "Stories" and someone put in a track listing. It shows Chris as the co-writer of True Believer (Guess I was wrong :embarrassed: ) With the track featuring Milky Chance and ID (Most likely to be Chris Martin). This means this is indeed a duet.

pretty sure the lower voice harmonizing is chris. never thought the main singer was him. in a way it is great he is writing with avicii but not performing for him. i like that. a songwriter must itch to do different things. keep that voice for mainly coldplay chris, as has been the case.

I'm sorry I have to disagree there, but the person singing the main vocals on first verse and chorus + the second chorus and the words "true believer" as well as backing vocals at the end clearly is Chris. Even though the voice is distorted, you can clearly hear it's him from the sound, the undertones and dynamics of his voice.

Yeah it's definitely Chris. I don't mind the distortion as much with songs like this. And to be fair, this is a live track from a festival, not the studio version. You can hear people talking in the beginning and a bit throughout. The studio version will sound a lot clearer.

Found this on SoundCloud... It's newer but worse quality you can hear some parts are Chris and some are not...

From looking up this collaboration, sometimes they get the name of the vocalist wrong when they rip it live or have a phone recording... I saw one video and it was marked as Avicii (Feat. Chris Martin) but it clearly wasn't... I think it's due to some people not being really familiar with certain artists but it reminds them of someone but is not them

Found what? I dont see anything

you probably lack the plugin, try with another browser or just google it and see if you can get it that way. The previously posted version is much clearer in sound though :)

and Brandon Flowers... something good is on its way!

Brandon Flowers wrote the song The Days, which Robbie Williams sang but here's the Brandon Flowers version:https://soundcloud.com/jamie-heyward/avicii-the-days-new-vocals-feat-brandon-flowers

avicii talks about chris and their song about 9:00 onwards.

avicii talks about insane and uncontrollable chris and their collab here. 3:10 onwards.

Found this video posted around June of Avicii at Pinkpop: [video=youtube;Qi_tnjc6dIk]

Avicii plays True Believer at 1:47. He played it at a higher pitch and I think it's only Chris' vocals besides the chorus.
