If Miracles was a sign of things to come from LP7....

I would be happier if lp7 was influenced by Atlas instead of Miracles. I was hoping lp7 would sound like ghost story.

That will hardly happen, bc the band said that AHFOD will be uplifting, something Atlas isn't

I know. The album will probably sound similar to don't let it break your heart or up with the birds.

there is nothing wrong if it sounds like up with the birds. i'd like to see that. but don't think that would happen.

if that's gonna be the case, I'm gonna travel to London, kick in the Bakery's door, walk straight up to whoever's gonna be present of Coldplay that moment and give him a personal bat-approved thank you handshake.

I'll go with you. [emoji23] those are the 2 best songs on MX, in my opinion.

Dang everyone here is so anti-Mylo Xyloto lol. MX is my favorite Coldplay album. It's just so upbeat and happy. I love the newer Coldplay sound. And this is coming from someone who's been a fan of them since Parachutes. I love their old sound don't get me wrong, it was beautiful and emotional and relaxing. But I'm also loving their new sound too! It's nice for a change. Change isn't always a bad thing, Coldplay is still the same Coldplay we've always known them to be. I think it's awesome that they're experimenting with their sound. I don't think they mean for it to sound "commercialized" or anything like that. They wanna change up their style a bit and I think that's great! I love them for doing that. I know I'm probably the only person on this planet who absolutely LOVES Mylo xyloto and songs like Miracles but honestly I can appreciate all their music-both new and old. I'll always support them no matter what, even their newer stuff still has that old Coldplay feel to it in my opinion. :)

What!? [emoji15] it's so good!

i do admit that i have a skewed perception of mylo. maybe it's been long enough that i should revisit it with relatively fresh ears.

It's an ok album, certain songs are incredible. I love major minus, up in flames, up with the birds and don't let it break your heart.

the only songs i really love are up with the birds and major minus. like us against the world too. up in flames thematically seems like it would have fit perfectly in GS.

I agree with you. But, we have to remember that bands and singers want their music "commercialized" because they want to be recognized for their abilities, I mean everyone wants to succeed. But that doesn't mean bands like Coldplay are able to write music with passion, it could be pop, rock, alternative or a mixture but the difference is the way they write a song. For example, I don't like songs that have a list of lots of songwriters because that could imply a lack of emotion. But in the case of Coldplay we have a group of friends who share the same passion for music, at least that's what I see, and that's why I became a huge fan. Moreover, they could have the simplest lyrics (like in Miracles) or the most remarkable (like AROBTTH) but, for me, all of them have something different that makes them unique.

Up in flames would've fit better in GS than Oceans.

I know I agree with you! But check out the title of the thread ;)

Sorry, that came off as rude. I didn't mean for it to be! I like Miracles enough, but wouldn't want an entire album sounding like it. For me, I just enjoyed it because the "big" sound was back that we had missing for Ghost Stories. The blandness, though. No thanks.

Songs they should take inspiration from (only second part of their career):

Major Minus

Up With The Birds

Moving To Mars

Atlas

Midnight

All Your Friends

Ghost Story

O (Part2/Reprise)

Ok songs (that could've been improved):

Hurts Like Heaven

Always In My Head

Oceans

Another's Arms

O

They can forget the rest (obviously this is only my humble opinion)

^ Yesyes a million times yes

Those songs are basically the only post-Viva songs I listen to ever (plus DLIBYH).

I really liked Miracles when it came out, but I think it was just (as others have said) because I was missing that "big arena" sound that was prevalent on ARoBttH, X&Y, Viva, etc. I still like the outro, Guy's basswork, and like one line of lyrics, but the rest of it just seems kind of meh. Still a good pump-up song that I listen to on runs, but not as good at their other two standalone singles.

An album full of Miracles could be interesting, but only if a few production choices are changed. I wouldn't be surprised if a Miracles-like song wound up as the big hit off this album, at least.

I am one of those fans who are worried about the direction CP have taken since the release of MX. I think that Atlas is one of the few songs of the second part of their career that can be good enough to be considered like the ones in the first part.

On the other hand, Miracles is just too simple and ripetitive, with a not-so-original production and structure. If it represent LP7 I would be quite disappointed

Same here. The whole coldplay feel of the first 4 albums is so different. The direction since mx Im not exactly following.. their descisions i dont get it. When you watch interviews from around viva or before they were still talking about becoming better. That they are not at the level they want to be, that they havent made their best album yet.

With miracles i first was quite happy and then i went: omg how did I fell in this trap? This is really bland. The biggest problem being the production but the complete melody is so zzz. so my answer is: please no! Although its somehow still better than asfos or poc lol. Its not so screamy

Miracles is a pretty good song but it's also really mainstream. I want the album to be less mainstream like X&Y and more acoustic like Parachutes. With the rock goodies. That would be an amazing album. They've only done one song like that was High Speed. It was atmospheric, different, but still maintaining the rock sound.
