Rickulus
In celebration of the Northern American tour and the Cali tickets I got, I wanted to post this. Dying to hear/see it! This song just shines live!Ā Usually I like the studio versions more, but DAMN, this song sounds good live. Also, for some reason, in the studio version when Chris sings "cause you give me this feeling: everglow" and when he hits the notes in "give" and "glow" it kinda hurts my ears... Is it just me?

But I know "the sun must set to rise"Ā Sorry to hear that! I know all too well when those days come and yes thats exactly when Coldplay lyrics come to the rescue. It will rise again , thats an absolute certainty. Hang in there, do what you can to make yourself comfortable through it and release whatever you cant control to the Universe/Fate/God/Life or by whatever name you call that beautiful thing that binds us all in love :)Ā "Help is just around the corner": hope it gets there very soon ;)

Yeah, Will's great. I don't like when you nearly can hear Will's voice (mixed with the recorded ''ooohohohoooh'' backingtracks) when live.

I don't like when you nearly can hear Will's voice (mixed with the recorded ''ooohohohoooh'' backingtracks) when live.Ā I think his most prominent performance so far might have been Us Against The World. Maybe we might see it again in some of the upcoming live shows :) Oh and of course the end of Viva...he used to almost carry the woohooo all by himself with the crowd following hehe

I noticed how Chris nose used to be smaller...or is it just me? Maybe its true that some men“s facial features get larger with the years....*runs to the mirror to check his nose and ears* LOL
Jedi Leo
Lovers in Japan is one my favorite Coldplay songs ever, yet seeing it now and comparing it to AHFOD, its so evident to me just how much more prominent all the other band members are now compared to then, especially Jonny! Now almost each song on the new album has his shimmering guitar throughout, while in the past there were more than a few songs where he only had a small solo or mostly background chords.

Don't know if ''lipsynching'' is a good English word but what I want to say is: he doesn't sing anymore. I'm sure about that.

Or do we have examples of all four singing together in the past? I cant remember...

In Australia when Chris ran across the field followed by the crowd (craziest Chris moment lol) we can hear the rest of the band keep singing on YouTube videos. So perhaps Guy is singing less now because Jonny has gotten himself confident enough to do the backup on more songs, so now he “s got the microphone in front of him? :)

Perhaps he tried to sing during the Viva era because it was part of the concept or it was something new for him and he wanted to try. I'm not sure he's lipsynching I felt he's not confident enough to sing in front of a lot of people, it's not his forte IMO.
Gideon_Mx
Yes I noticed that too...but did Guy used to sing in lieu of Jonny during some songs? I don't think so. I can't remember/find any song where Guy sings in lieu of Jonny.Ā Or do we have examples of all four singing together in the past? I cant remember... The only this that's the closest to that one is: Ā We definitely can hear the difference in: ''If you love me, won't you let me know'' between the studio version and the live version. But he doesn't sing here either I think. It's pure Will, Chris and Jonny

Now it seems the role of the second backup singer has gone from Guy to Jonny, as you see Jonny singing backing vocals in both AHFOD and Up&Up (off the top of my head)

Or was it a mistake?Ā I think in the live video of AHFOD above but I have not re watched it. I may be mistaken. I notice though that both Jonny and Guy have microphones in front on them there and Guy sings too so yeah...apparently they all sing alternating between songs! Jonny's singing voice is so different to Chris he can reach very low notes while Will can reach higher notes. I think Guy can't add something different to the backing vocals but a few times he has sung loud enough to be heard.
