Dear fellows, I wanted to create a thread for all those who love the newer Coldplay stuff as much as the older stuff. A thread in which we can appreciate the pureness and beauty of their newer releases, discuss them, discuss the band and how amazing they are. Be it live or studio stuff for each other to hear or watch and just indulge in that unique new Coldplay atmosphere which many of us love so much. In short, this place is for feeling happy, hopeful and dancy.

 

I'd roughly say the timeframe discussed here is 2011 to the present, so it includes MX which is really Newplay to me, but I know for many of us Coldplayers it was the start of something we really loved, so I thought let's include it.

Well to start off the Newplaying thread, how about posting the first song on the first Newplay album (It also happens to be my favorite song!)

Yes! Hurts Like Heaven is an awesome song to start an album with! It's my favorite song too! Great choice!

I think this is the key phrase. All are welcome here; you don't just have to like only new stuff! (For instance, my fav album is AROBTTH, but I enjoy newplay just as much!)

I like ASFOS, too! It was one of the Coldplay songs I had heard before knowing what Coldplay was

The two songs that lead me to discover Coldplay are Paradise and ETIAW. Those are really great songs. And, even when I like AHFOD I can't help thinking how weird it's to listen to Spies or Easy to Please and the next song in the playlist is Hymn for the Weekend. I do love the song and I understand what Chris is trying to say but when I pay attention to the different genres I understand why oldplayers don't like the new Coldplay at all.

A "safe place" ? LOL If you cant feel "safe" saying you like some Coldplay songs on the biggest online forum for Coldplay fans, then I dont know where you can feel safe saying that haha :)

 

If someone gives you grief anywhere here for liking a song, dont even waste time paying attention to it. Dont let anyone tell you you're not qualified to like the music you like. Let them think whatever they want, but dont buy into that yourself ;)

Ahh, yes. I really loved the way they used recorded videos of each member playing different instruments instead of just using the backing track. For a second I thought The piano-playing Chris was real! :D

btw, I know that the Oldplaying forum has Viva, but I consider Viva the start of Newplay and wish it was here hehe :)
