I have a small question about this evening's listening party, are we only going to listen to the 13 songs on the CD, or B-sides as well?

Last time we only listened to the studio album tracks, however afterwards some of us lingered to listen to some B-sides, but not really synchronised.

So so far the official answer is "The 13 songs on X & Y studio album version" :)

I´d like to point out that the instructions on the first post include "a 20 minute break". Last time we had a break between Viva and Prospekt. This time its only one album, so we can have the break after the first part (after X & Y the song).

This is only one album but its unusually long and I personally would like the break to still be in effect so I can make a cup of tea and grab a snack, but let me know what you guys think!

All decisions we come to Ill swiftly update the first post with :) They will also be reiterated some an hour or so before the start :)

The ad is on the green banner now!:dance:

Some of the X&Y B-sides belong to my favorite Coldplay songs, so I wouldn't mind to listen to them. :)

Gravity - How You See The World - Pour Me - Proof - Sleeping Sun - The World Turned Upside Down - Things I don’t Understand.

And of course we can have a 20 minute break first.

I won't be at my place but I'm taking my laptop along so I can write on the forum and listen to my phone.

*must not forget to take along my chargers*

The break would be mid-way during X&Y, that is after the song "X &Y". Im suggesting this because the album is long and its , at least to me, more refreshing to have the break in between so I don't get tired during the second part. The break was a fixed part of the initial instructions, no matter the content of the listening party. But as always I wanna hear what you guys think!

The B-sides could be arranged but I think we should have taken this discussion earlier. Now Im not sure we have the time to decide on whether we want the B-sides, which ones (if all the people here even have access to them/own them) and in what order to listen to them starting at what time! LOL

However we can definitely take this up during the next listening party, maybe even make a dedicated poll or perhaps have a "b-sides dedicated" listening party or two where we decide a fixed playlist :) Sounds like a good idea? :)

If we are gonna listen to the b-sides, what order will it be in?

Gravity - How You See The World - Pour Me - Proof - Sleeping Sun - The World Turned Upside Down - Things I don’t Understand.

this order looks solid, so I'm gonna have to rearrange and move HYSTW out of the initial thing. (It's part of some X&Y CDs as a bonus/hidden track I believe)

I think its too late to talk about b-sides as we cant be sure people own them or even can/want to listen to them afterwards and in what order and at what time we should synchronise that. It would be nothing short of a nightmare to decide that now imo....

I suggest again a dedicated "b-sides" listening party in the future, where we have plenty of time to decide the order of the playlist, the content, etc.

But if you have better ideas, Im listening! :)

That "all b-sides" listening party looks great! And X&Y is already so long so the b-sides could be saved for later.

I agree on both the things you said. Good point that the album is long already as it is.

Whats your opinion/take on the 20 minutes break after the first part, after "X&Y song"? I can include that info (the moment of the break) in the official instructions on the first post if you guys agree/think its a good idea.

If we do have an all 'B Sides' party, can we choose the order of all albums?:)

We shall take all that when the time comes to choose the subject of the next party :) So far I´ve posted polls to determine what people want to hear and when. We can definitely use the polls to determine what b-sides to listen to as well, if B-sides from certain eras or others, etc :)

Initially after this party, Ill post a poll to decide what to listen to to begin with. "B-sides playlist" can be included in that poll as well

Great:)

It makes some sense, but I'd prefer to listen to it without breaks :) Maybe we can pause after Speed of Sound?

Initially the break was 10 minutes, which I found too short so I changed it to 20 minutes. With some albums the break makes more sense than others (if we have a long listening party or not). I personally think the break should always be there, also to allow people to go to the restroom or whatnot, so they don't have to force themselves to "hold it in" (or drag their laptop to the toilet! LOL).

As always all this can be discussed among us, though Im generally not sure it would be a good idea to remove the break for this listening party so "late in the game", because people reading the first post have read about the break being there already. Not sure about this :/

Ok, you have some valid points there. :)

It is a bit too late to organize for the B-sides and not everyone might have them.

A break somewhere in the middle would probably be welcome but 20 minutes seems long though, 15 minutes ? :D

But I'll leave it up to you, you have the experience of the first party. :)

What if I do a lifestream with all the tracks so you don't have to sync up your clocks?

More decisions late in the game *LOL* Im not sure what a lifestream is? It does sound like a good idea!

I have to ask though: how about the quality of the stream? I know many will sit with their best headphones to catch the tiniest details we can geek about during the party hehe.

I meant livestream lol, the audio will be the same as spotify I guess

15 minutes can be good too. I can change that in the main post to 15 minutes break after X&Y song (I chose that because its the "official" end of the first part on the vinyl LOL). And yes I think the break is always good to have if anything for the restrooms runs :)

I personally prefer to have the small "inconvenience" of synchronising the clock rather than having to listen to anything other than my own CD-quality tracks, but as anything else people can collectively decide what they prefer here !

Im not sure we can decide so close to the start of this listening party though? Especially if in the future we listen to albums like live albums or dedicated B-sides playlists which we decide the order of...it would not be easy with a livestream in those cases and I think its best to make a decision valid for all listening parties as to not confuse people about "clocks, no clocks".

Stephen, is there a chance that the posting time limit can/will be deactivated?

I think it will already be deactivated for this listening party. At least I remember @stephen confirming that we would try that this time and see if it works to our satisfaction?
