Got a call from Studio Brussel (radio station in Belgium) yesterday. They were holding a contest to win a trip to London on monday, and go see the concert. You just had to tell them why you were the perfect person to go haha.

In the call they were telling me they were touched by my story and were interested in inviting me to play a "final" against someone else this friday. They went over a couple of questions like "Can you come to the studio on friday?" and "Are you available to go to the concert?". (This was all off the air btw)

At the end of the conversation, the woman said "We're maybe going to call you tomorrow morning, live on the radio to invite you to play the final against someone else. But it may be possible that you won't get a call".

It's now thursday morning and two other people were called. I'm confused and kinda bummed why they called me yesterday to give me a sparkle of hope. If you're reading this and you were called, congratulations! Now I'm going to listen to Daddy and cry all day x)

Love

aaaah wtf that sucks! I kind of get why they're doing this but it sucks they gave you hope :(

That's not very nice of them! Then again, Studio Brussel is run by a bunch of no clue idiots these days.

In the past during the AROBTTH -> VLV era, I've organized a few of these competitions myself for small scale Coldplay gigs for Belgian and Dutch fans. We also always asked to submit a motivation. Fortunately, we were always allocated 20-40 tickets, so way more than the two tickets they're giving away. That did make it easier. Anyway, if you'd get a thousand submissions, they always followed the same pattern:

- 20 to 30 answers from people you could immediately see are real die hard fans. They put the effort in, write a personal story that's longer than one sentence. These immediately stand out. One or two could make you cry.

- About 200 answers that are entirely made up of Coldplay song titles. E.g. "I looked at the sky full of stars and they were all yellow. If I don't go to this concert, all my teardrops will be waterfalls..."

- All the rest are either variations on "I am the biggest fan" or "I want to surprise X because he/she is the biggest fan".

wait, really only 20-30 "good" motivations out of 1000? I always thought It'd be way more!

the song titles thing is a real classic isn't it. I hate it hahaha

I was always surprised by this. We'd have two or three extra people rank them, and you'd always end up with the same 20 to 30 that really stick out. Definitely not more. They once gave us more tickets than we thought we'd get and had to include some of those "song titles for an answer" submissions. I can't imagine it would be that different today.

:broken_heart:

... and instead, they called someone who is trying to win to surprise his dad...

I don't really care who they called instead, I think everyone deserves it to see Coldplay in London. It's just the fact that they called me yesterday that confuses me and makes me a little sad. Don't give a Coldplayer that much hope to drop it the next day!

Yeah it sucks biiiig time. It is very understandable, but the conversation we had was quite long, with me clarifying my story a little more. I would've totally accepted it if she would have said "You're a backup person, so if one of the two choices don't pick up the phone, we're calling you".

Wait what do you mean haha? I didn't get the opportunity to win the ticket. I only got a call from Studio Brussel off the air saying they could call me this morning. (What didn't happen).

Het that's no problem, can happen with everybody.

Don't overwork yourself! It's pretty bad for your health. Best wishes and good luck on getting tickets aswell Saturday! I'm going to see if my luck is hopefully stacking up...

Hi guys, looks like i won't have any code as I ordered from France but can use VPN, so if anyone has a code and does not expect to use it, or needs only 1 ticket i'll be glad to be part of it :D

I had the chance to be at the Casino de Paris in 2015 i'd love to see the guys in such a small place :)

Try to register via the no purchase link in the first post of this thread (using your VPN), then you should receive a code. Not sure registrations are still open though.

just saw this on twitter, the link to buy tickets tomorrow: https://www.gigsandtours.com/event/coldplay/natural-history-museum/1464054?eml=2019November22/4814329/6223346&etsubid=85159940

gigsandtours also sold the tickets for the Royal Albert Hall gigs in 2014. It was a catastrophic mess: the servers crashed, and they didn't (don't?) have a waiting room like ticketmaster so you had to refresh constantly and click faster than the speed of light when a ticket became available for 0.001 seconds. I lost 5 years of my life in that sale. Good luck to everyone who will be trying! but... prepare for the worst because the capacity of the RAH was like 10 times bigger than this venue

Well...the thing is: i'll be able to attend the concert, doesn't matter how late/long it will be. The only thing i fear is not being able to get access to the code and/or ticket(s).

IF i'll be able to buy mine, i will go alone and obviously will be happy to make someone happy for making me company (well..the happiness will be for attending Coldplay, i know) :grinning:

On the other way round, i would REALLY appreciate if someone would be so kind and could do the same thing for me, too...just in case i don't get the chance to buy mine.

If anyone's sincerely interested and honest enough to compromise to the above written...just let me know!

Have you found a buddy yet or would you be interested in buddying up ? :)
