Just me but I haven't been thrilled with a slow Coldplay song in ages. This isn't an exception unfortunately.Β

Err what this is the first time since Atlas that I've loved a slow Coldplay song straight off the bat

People are acting as if Everyday Life wasn't filled to the brim with great slow songsΒ

But it's not though. 6 songs?Β

Even then, not all that great to me. Heh.

I wonder what FRNDZ is? Β Also, sad to see that Earthling didn’t make the cut on Moon Music. Β Love that song.

So the song Moon Music was originally separated into three parts. Earthling is written as Earthling pt. 1, implying there are other Earthlings we don't know about? Then there's FRNDZ, whatever that is.Β

On the left page you can see that the word is also written stylised as "FRENDZ" and "friendz", so = friends.

At first I thought it was an acronym for "FernΓ‘ndez" or a reference to "Franz Ferdinand".

Jupiter lyrics apparently leakedΒ

https://genius.com/Coldplay-jupiter-lyrics

The "Jupiter named for a planet called a melody / wasn’t exactly where she ought to be" lines are absent, but "orchestra of rainbows" turns up. And more "la la la las" in case you were worried there'd be a song without them.Β

Also these lyrics aren't great.Β

Looks like they are the cheap version of FLIFIL lyrics... LetΒ΄s hope the melody and JonnyΒ΄s parts are great.

Correct.Β
Also bear in mind those might be early lyrics not final lyrics since they’re from the notebook.Β
I don’t see a problem with them either they express the message of the song well enough and are better than flifil lyrics on any given day.Β

All My Friends are Aliens is in the booklet too. Maybe FRNDZ is a fleshed out version of that? Or something completely seperate? Either way it came very close to making the album, whatever it is.Β

ALL MY FRiENDS ARE ALiENS is a jam session and as far as i know hasn't progressed any further than that

it feels like kind of repetitive to me

yep, they're realImage

In my humbled opinion they shouldn't have released FLIFIL as a single Good Feelings was a better choice for a single.

FLIFIL has has a good tune thatΒ people would have appreciated more if they only listened to it when the album is released instead of making it the first new song they hear from the band since Coloratura.

I think there seem to be certain criterias for the lead singles of the albums. When looking back, if I'm not wrong, first singles are without featuring artists and more universally representative of the album, that's what FLIFIL was.
So, then a lot of points would have still supported Good Feelings to be at least the second single, because that's when they usually bring out featuring artists. But I guess the points against it were: not that unique really - kind of similar to AOAL and My Universe, so that's where they went for We Pray instead.
I might be wrong, that's just my interpretation of their decisions, but indeed Good Feelings deserved to be a great summer hit.

I’m surprised We Pray isn’t more successful tbh. Usually the second single gets the big push but apparently not this time.Β

They aren't collaborating with big names on this one and for some reason they didn't release a music video they are still in the FLIFIL era with the new video of the making of its video

In this day in age, you never know what's going to land and become a big Top 40 hit. Shaboozy has been dominating and Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone and Chappell Roan are having immense years delving into a bunch of different genres. On top of that you have Tik Tok trends organically sprouting up bringing back older music often with a huge nostalgiac appetite -- like Sparks and Yellow show up a lot.Β

I was hoping We Pray would have more of an impact on the charts given in some ways, it's the most "Viva La Vida" sounding song from the band with the strings and big drums. I appreciate the band promting a different style of music for a single and featuring great artists from across the world, it certainly did better than FLIFIL and I think it's been doing pretty well in the UK? At the end of the day, I think it's a catchy and good song but I can see why, espescially compared to other excellently produced pop music, it didn't grab people's attention. To some degree we have to contend with the fact that these are men in their mid 40's and that won't always have appeal to pop audiences.Β

I'm maintaining my prediction that Good Feelings will chart Top 40 for a few weeks at least though. It's a groovy song.Β

FLIFIL was a smart choice as first single. It gives a good first taste of this album which otherwise would probably have gone under the radar and overlooked if released with the rest of the album. It’s definitely not their strongest lead single, but it’s a grower and fun to singalong (and clap clap) to. And it sounds absolutely timeless for Coldplay.
WE PRAY also made sense as they had already debuted this at Glastonbury which had a positive response and gives a different colour of music to the lead single. Unfortunately it hasn’t charted that well outside the UK.Β
GOOD FEELiNGS will be a sure fire hit with a great collab so it’s a good thing they have this to fall back on as I’m sure it will do well commercially and gives one of the albums best flavours.Β

And then we have ALL MY LOVE. If they promote this well, I can also see this performing well commercially as it’s sort of reminiscent of Ed Sheeran (think How Would You Feel if it was a piano version) and as we saw works extremely well as a wedding song.Β
And it sounds like the rest of Moon Music will have some real gems so very much looking forward to the next 20 days.Β
