Grammy predix: Coldplay, Leona Lewis, Sara Bareilles and Rihanna lead race for best record of the year Two of the best Grammy prognosticators on the planet are our forum moderators David "Guru" Schnelwar and Darrin "DoubleD" Dortch. Now that we're nearing the tail end of this year's eligibility period (Sept. 30), I asked them for their noodlings on the race for record of the year. RECORD OF THE YEAR - GURU'S PREDIX (Front-runners) "Viva la Vida" - Coldplay "Mercy" - Duffy "4 Minutes" - Madonna & Justin Timberlake (Possible) "Love Song" - Sara Bareilles "With You" - Chris Brown "Bleeding Love" - Leona Lewis "I Kissed a Girl" - Katy Perry "Disturbia" …

Everybody who pre-orderd Viva La Vida early june recieved a DRM-version of the album at the release. When I reported it in june, they gave me my money back! Today I got an email about it and I can download the DRM-free version again (so I've downloaded the album twice without paying one of them :D).

Chris Martin isn’t coy about it. He freely admits Coldplay gathers its strength from Radiohead the way Superman draws his powers from our yellow sun. Recently asked how much he paid to download Radiohead’s pay-what-you-want release “In Rainbows,” Martin explained he dropped 10 British pounds three separate times trying to get the album onto his hard drive. Finally, he gave up and bought the vinyl. “But I don’t mind,” he said. “I owe Radiohead a bit more than 30 pounds. Let’s face it. We owe them a career, really.” Monday, Martin and pals bring Coldplay’s Viva la Vida Tour to the TD Banknorth Garden. The following week, Radiohead plays the Comcast Center in Mansfi…

July 31, 2008 - submitted by Louise, United Kingdom Q. I have a 9 week old baby girl. What is your best piece of advice for our new addition Emily Jane? The Oracle replies: To believe in yourself, trust your instincts and remain positive no matter how tough the going gets. The best piece of advice I received was: keep your feet on the ground and your head out of the clouds. Emily will be well chuffed!!!!:P

  8. The Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten has slammed Coldplay for creating boring music - insisting he feels sorry for fans who pay to see the "humourless" group perform live. Rocker Rotten, real name John Lydon, is convinced the Yellow hitmakers take themselves too seriously - and is adamant their music suffers as a result. He says, "I pity the poor bastards who have to watch them. They are utterly humourless. I met them a few years ago, said hello and realised they were just men in anoraks. They looked like a gang of little poncy masturbators. "There is no fun, they don't offer joy. Their music has a couple of quite nice tones here and there but it's a box of tosh (…

  11. U2's 12th studio album also comes out this year (possibly in late October) and it is produced obviously by the genius Brian Eno. Now I know this forum is filled with Coldplay fanatics, as am I, but who do you honestly think would win? It may be a little soon to guess since we haven't heard any of U2's new songs, one of which is entitled "Moment of Surrender". Eno called it, "the best thing" he's ever done with U2.:stunned: http://www.atu2.com/newalbum/

Here's what you do... Simply use every song of Coldplay's to make a paragraph... I'll start... It's ok if you skip 5 or 6 songs... Don't Panic, because I will Fix You. I shouldn't have caused Trouble in the first place, but luckily Daylight showed me the right way, and your Green Eyes made me realize that I was treating you Low. So I hope to See You Soon, go back to Square One, and start over... Because you're the One I Love, and We Never Change. But What If you don't believe me? Well, I'm Lost without you, I am Easy To Please, and A Message told me that we were ment to be. So I will take you to Violet Hill, I will take you to Amsterdam, we will Talk about every…

We are going to set up the ultimate coldplaying bracket to determine our favorite coldplay song. It'll be kinda like the march madness college basketball tournament except we vote on it! But, in order to determine the 64 songs and the seedings we must vote first! Please state your 25 favorite coldplay songs to help nominate. Rules: 1. Collaborations are ok, as long as the entire band was in on it (aka no HOmecoming, All things come to and end etc...) 2. Covers are fine 3. Different versions of songs do not count (No Lost? or Don't Panic Blue roo…

Ok, so I'm completely in love with Viva La Vida...as is probably the majority of all users on this site...haha, I'm already being redundant. Anyways... I'm not sure where to look for my answer, so if someone's already asked this question, I do apologize. My question: are the strings used in Yes, Viva, and any other songs performed by a group? I was really hoping they weren't synthesized. Thanks for any help!!!

Coldplay Bring the Bombast J.I. would like to think we are pretty open minded, and jaded as we might be, we’re not music snobs – if we get drunk and nostalgic enough, we can karaoke “American Pie” from start to finish. So when last minute Coldplay tickets came along, we decided to live in the moment and hopped on a train headed for Philly. You see, we’ve never been big Coldplay fans. We don’t dislike them, per se, and we think they serve as great background music in one of our favorite movies (the deliciously snarky Igby Goes Down). But we never quite got the mass appeal, either. Perennial J.I. fave Santogold opened the show, and after a lackluster SummerStage p…

I've always wondered what musicians/bands/artists listen to when they listen to their mp3 player or whatever? We sometimes hear what bands have inspired them, but does that mean they listen to them frequently? So here are my questions, who/what do you think Coldplay listens to (as individuals or as a whole)? Do they ever listen to themselves (other than for recording/quality purposes)? If so, is that arrogant or just music appreciation? Do other bands listen to themselves? I'm curious to see everyone's thoughts.

  22. THEY are household names of rock and pop, but were they the names the bands’ founders first thought of? And what gave them the inspiration for the famous moniker we now all know them by? One band name was inspired by a friendly neighbour, another group took theirs from an Aldous Huxley book about drugs. A new book charts how 240 of the most famous music acts from the Sixties to today got their names. We’ve plucked some musical notes from the book — Rock Band Name Origins — to let you know the score. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AC/DC: Band member Angus Young got the name from the back of his sister Marg…

  23. Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland says the quartet is presently getting along quite well but knows the rigours of touring bring the usual bits of band bickering. "I think sometimes touring can be quite stressful and we did quite a lot of touring with X&Y without a lot of breaks," he says. "Sometimes you can irritate each other and I think that might have happened a bit. When you finish the tour you kind of need a couple of months holiday or a months' holiday and then we're fine again. "Every time it does happen when we come back we feel a little kinder to each other. We're all in the same boat and we all understand." When Coldplay originally set their North …
