I was searching for some info on James playing with Squeeze and came across this which was more exciting (well actually ive always wanted to see James), but these pics are awesome :) http://blogs.msg.com/themonitor/2008/06/photos-coldplay.html Photos: Coldplay Live at Madison Square Garden Photo: David Atlas Chris Martin looks pretty excited up there (and in here), and who can blame him? He played a to a packed Garden on Monday, and now he's got the #1 album in the U.S. (and a few other countries as well.) Did you miss Coldplay's free show at Madison Square Garden? Don't worry, we have plenty of goodies to make you feel like you were right there. C…

Chris Martin is still a poor man’s Thom Yorke, but on Viva la Vida he’s become a more paranoid android. Kid A this is not. As far as radical reinventions go, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is far from the sweeping change Chris Martin and company continually teased while they worked on their fourth, Pete Wentz-esque titled album. The Coldplay aesthetic is a well-defined thing, and Mr. Martin and faceless backing men 1-3 have smartly only superficially expanded their horizons. Coldplay has neither stripped back its sound to Chuck Berry-esque simplicity nor created the Latin-tinged fiesta it often hinted at in the album's advance press. Viva la Vida sounds l…

http://wiki.coldplaying.com/index.php/In_defense_of_Coldplay_%2820080709%29 Chris Martin knows why you hate his band. For the first time in his career, he couldn’t care less Blame it on their selling a zillion records—or perhaps it has to do with a singer who shows up in tabloids as much as music mags (thanks to a movie star wife, a daughter named Apple and a son named Moses). Whatever the reason, Coldplay is the most polarizing band this side of U2. From the dubious homophobic joke heard round the world in Judd Apatow’s “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” (“How do I know you’re gay? You listen to Coldplay”) to the New York Times brazenly labeling them “the most insufferabl…

US rapper Lil' Wayne has returned to the top of the US Billboard album chart with 'Tha Carter III'. The rapper's sixth album has exchanged places with Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends', which falls to number two. There was a consolation for Coldplay, however, as the band’s fourth album went platinum in its third week. 'Tha Carter III' sold 156,000 copies in the last seven days, according to statistics from Neilson Soundscan. The album, which sold over a million copies in its first week last month, has now shifted more than 1.68million units in four weeks. Elsewhere on the new chart, 'Camp Rock', a Disney soundtrack which features the Jonas Br…

Summary: Basically a bunch of idiots idolizing Radiohead and calling CP fluffy knockoffs with terrible live performances. One guy stated CP's live concerts were sub par and boring :laugh3: Others called them shitty and terrible. It's funny because they all seem to think Radiohead is the God of British music  http://www.honestforum.com/hf-chat/160606-coldplay-vs-radiohead-opinions-please.html

Ok, so I bought the album at WalMart...and ripped it to my PC. On iTunes, it mentioned a Bonus Track (Lost Acoustic) ...and as far as I knew, it wasn't on my CD. Well anyway, I go look in "My Music\Coldplay\VLV\" and there it is...Lost Acoustic...I just don't have a clue in the world how it got there. As far as I know, I'm the only person in my family that is even a big CP fan. Don't get me wrong...I love the fact it is there...I just don't have a clue how it got there. I looked at the file details, and My files say they were created on "June 19th" but the Lost Acoustic was created on "June 29" ...so, 10 days later. I never saw it there till today. But I haven…

Who's had a dream about Coldplay or with a member of Coldplay in it? Describe describe describe. :D I had a brilliant one last night about the concert in San Jose (13 days!!!!)... it was after the show, and Chris called my name on the loudspeaker and told me to come backstage. He then told me to take a picture with him and patted my head, and told me to always remember this moment "or else". (which would normally be a bit creepy, but it's okay, it was Chris ). *sigh* If only it actually happened....

Read This: (from Coldplay Italian Interview at RockStar Magazine: http://www.coldplayzone.it/_articolo.asp?id=1614) Do you feel you're in a situation similar to that of Louis XIV when Napoleon was at the gates? Do you feel like the king of the realm as young and angry rock bands are trying to depose you? C: "No, we're still there. We still have U2 and The Beatles as our models. We would like to reach their status". Did Brian Eno produce your album in order for you to take another step towards the threshold of U2's door? C: "Maybe. But, really, we don't see us on top of something. At most we are somewhere in the middle". In Relation to my website: http://www…

Because this one really really is annoying me lately. Since the release of their new album they seem to have attracted all sorts of hostility from the mass media and not to be a rabid fanboy but its all unfair. Viva la vida sees them pushing their simplistic pop sound and cherpy guitars to a sound more akin to art rock. When Radiohead/U2 did this they were applauded, when the Beatles did this (Stg Pepper onwards) it was a magical moment in music history. When Coldplay do it people can't dismiss it fast enough. And pardon me If I think Strawberry Swing and Yellow are the closest we've came to the simplistic joy of the earlier Beatles hits in 60 years, while The Scien…

I think we assembled a pretty decent list of enemies we could agree on in the other thread, so now it's time to see who is the most commonly hated of the list. 1. Crazy Frog 2. Perez Hilton 3. Katy Perry and her fascination with kissing Girls 4. Brian Eno's sometimes excessive ego 5. The New York Times 6. Anyone who wrote a magazine review for X&Y 7. Most people who have written a magazine review for Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends 8. Lollipop's 9. The Boy's who cried 'Plagarism' 10. Chris Martin's sad onset of Alzheimer's during concerts. 11. Fickle Music fans swayed by phat bass beats. 12. Alan Mcgee 13. Andy Gill of independent.co.uk 14. D…

http://stereogum.com/archives/chris-rock-was-the-only-black-guy-at-the-coldplay_010819.html?utm_source=bb&utm_medium=me I’m not saying that because Coldplay is now officially Stuff White People Like, I’m saying that because Chris Rock is saying that in a Celebrity MySpace blog post entitled “Only Black Guy Concert Review.” He lists some of the shows at which he held the distinction of being “the only black guy” — Van Halen, the White Stripes, the Cure, soon Radiohead, oddly not his “good friends” Metallica — but his phenotypic focus thereon is being the only black guy at that free Coldplay show at MSG. Like me, Chris didn’t enjoy being assaulted by Martin’s reminde…

Men's magazine wipes the smirks off Scots stars' faces Smug /smug/ adj (smugg'er; smugg'est) offensively self-complacent; neat, prim, spruce; smooth; sleek; affectedly smart; n a smug person; an industrious student who does not take part in social activities (obs university sl). vt to make trim. smug'ly adv. smug'ness n. smug'-faced adj – The Chambers Dictionary 10th Edition ROBERT Burns wished, famously, that we were able to "See oursels as ithers see us". V8 Supercars boss Tony Cochrane has revealed his plan to bring Kylie Minogue and Coldplay to Sydney to launch a proposed $30 million Homebush street race. As debate continues to rage about the environmental impact of the event, Cochrane last night promised to deliver Sydney a "truly international entertainment spectacular". "We will scour the globe to find a major international act to perform at the event," Cochrane said. "We'll talk to everybody from Kylie Minogue to Coldplay." With Melbourne laying claim to being Australia's sporting capital with events such as the Australian Open and the Formula One Grand Prix, Cochrane said a Sydney street race would put the …
