Did anyone ever used to be obsessed (well.. not obsessed... but really really really like) Disney movies? ... not the fake, new ones like Cars; but the cartoon ones. Anyone feel like sharing their old favourites or their current favourites? I love Alice in Wonderland.

WASHINGTON - The White House forced the head of GM to step down Sunday - and President Obama ordered Detroit to go back to the drawing board if it wants more government cash. Obama rejected turnaround plans submitted by General Motors and Chrysler and warned the troubled companies to come up with more dramatic moves to ensure a return to profitability. General Motors Chief Executive Rick Wagoner, widely accused of moving too slowly, was canned amid government demands to retool the embattled automaker. "We asked him to step down and he agreed," a senior administration official told the Daily News. Wagoner, who ran GM for eight tumultuous years, last year earned…

03/27/09 17:39 Tangerang (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has instructed the relevant authorities to reconstruct the Situ Gintung dam in Ciputat, southeast Jakarta, which burst early Friday morning killing at least 35 people. The President issued the instruction when he inspected the disaster site on Friday. "The burst dam must be rebuilt. We will also design the new structure in a proper way so that it will not cause any further public concern," the President told the press when observing conditions near the broken dam. In the disaster, a 250-meter-long section of the dam broke down allowing huge volumes of dam water to sweep over residen…

TESCO will open bank branches in its shops this year as it seeks to take advantage of a loss of public confidence in traditional high-street banks. The retailer expects to open branches, likely to be branded Tesco Bank, in 30 stores by the end of the year. It already offers credit cards, savings accounts and insurance and plans to concentrate on those areas at first, perhaps offering mortgages in due course. It is working on plans to launch a current account, though that would not happen until late next year at the earliest. The move by the retailing giant comes as public anger spills over about the hundreds of million of pounds paid out in bonuses to bankers this…

Bloody SNP! What an utter disgrace that Alex "I'm fat and useless" Salmond has paid for the talentless Sandi Thom's expenses whilst on SNP propoganda meetings. What a bloody disgrace. The SNP are a bloody disgrace and an embarassment to Scotland.

The People's Bank of China flexes its muscle in call for a new reserve currency. Move over Ben Bernanke. Step aside Tim Geithner. There's a new power in international finance: Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of the People's Bank of China, the $2 trillion central bank of China. It has the tools and the financial interests to be the new power player on the global financial stage. Zhou Xiaochuan--better learn how to spell it and pronounce it--threw down the gauntlet this week at the Obama-Geithner-Bernanke financial regime. His remarks can only be interpreted as a slap in the face of U.S. policy during the severe financial crisis that has swept the world. His prescription…

(Extract from Graham Linehan's blog. I agree with everyhting he says here so just copied and paste it. If things dont fit or look right here, here is the link to his blog post. http://whythatsdelightful.wordpress.com/2009/03/18/the-express-wins-the-race-to-the-bottom/ ) The Dunblane Massacre was an atrocity almost beyond imagining. A man named Thomas Hamilton walked into a school in a small Scottish town in March 1996, and shot dead sixteen children and one teacher. It was not what we’ve since come to think of as a ‘normal’ school shooting as it was a primary school, and all the children were aged between five and six years of age. We were filming an episode of ‘Fa…

TOKYO (Reuters) - The role of the U.S. dollar as the key global currency will decline after the financial crisis, and its value may also weaken due to America's current account deficit, officials at some of Asia's top think tanks said. But Asia, which is heavily invested in U.S. assets, hopes any decline in the dollar will be gradual to avoid further shocks to financial systems, the officials said on Thursday. "The dollar's role will gradually be shifted," Zhang Yunling, director of Institute of Asian and Pacific Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told a news conference in Tokyo after a meeting of Asian research groups. "China hopes to have a stable a…

March 12 (Bloomberg) -- Four Citigroup Inc. executives who bought the bank’s stock last week generated a $2.2 million paper profit within nine days, regulatory filings show. The executives, including director Roberto Hernandez, benefited as the company’s stock climbed 47 percent from March 10 through yesterday’s close of markets, after Chief Executive Officer Vikram Pandit said in a memo that the bank is having the best quarter since 2007. Their buying spree was the first by bank insiders since Jan. 14, filings show. “You’re supposed to buy when everyone else is selling,” said Bruce Foerster, a former Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. managing director who now runs Sout…

I've been searching this whole forum like crazy looking for a thread on this guy--he's hilarious and now I see he's hosting the VMAs. Kind of surprised he got that kind of recognition here in the US! Anyone have any of his CDs or DVDs? I can't find them anywhere and I'm eager to check out his work beyond Youtube.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/venezuela/4938993/Venezuelas-Hugo-Chavez-tightens-state-control-of-food-amid-rocketing-inflation-and-food-shortages.html The differences between imposing price controls on food and on homes aren't that big. Except here in America the government is trying to keep home prices high at the expense of the rest of the economy (because voters perceive their homes to be investments). This policy causes homebuilders to overestimate demand and build more houses than we need (malinvestment - money is wasted that is needed in another sector of the economy). In Venezuela, the policy of forcing farmers to sell their …

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-SQN18KUds]YouTube - Jaoquin Phoenix Fight (enhanced) at Fontainebleau night club in Miami[/ame] Joaquin Phoenix leapt into the crowd to confront a heckler during his hip-hop performance in Miami Beach last night (March 11). The Hollywood-star-turned-hip-hop-artist was performing at the LIV nightclub when a member of the audience apparently began taunting him. Phoenix, who was sporting a dishevelled black suit and beard, then called him a name and jumped into the crowd to challenge him face-to-face. The episode was caught on videotape by Phoenix's brother-in-law, actor Casey Affleck, who has been working with Phoenix on a docu…

Well what a day it's been. Ireland have won the Grand Slam after beating those pretty ladyboys, Wales. Now it's not that I hate Wales as a country, I love the Wales football team, it's just the Welsh rugby side give out a certain amount of smugness and arrogance. I'm so pleased the Irish won it,. I can't believe they've taken this long to win a Grand Slam AND the championship. Well done Ireland. You were brilliant! And England v Scotland? Once again Scotland showed what a mediocre side they are. They can't score tries for love nor money. England totally deserved their win, even though they didn't play at their best. Riki Flutey was utter class again and it should have…

A British migrant who wants to work as a nurse in Australia has been told she must take an English language test before her application will be considered. 'Are you joking?' Mrs Julie Dutton asked officials. 'I'm from England. I was educated there. I worked there. I speak fluent English.' But politically correct officials in Sydney told her that unless she took the test, proving she understood and could speak English, she couldn't be considered for the job. Mrs Dutton's revelations come the day after Australia announced it was cutting its foreign migrant intake by 14 per cent to help protect jobs for Australian workers. But Mrs Dutton's problems arose before the …

A bottle of PCP, a half-pound of marijuana and a one-quarter ounce of crack cocaine were found in the man's possession after he was confronted by police.
