August 9, 200718 yr How do you finger the chords of some of these songs? Some are just so confusing to me. Like, I can play some Dave Matthews songs, and he's a lot more complicated to play than Coldplay, yet, I can get the fingering down for a lot of these Coldplay songs.
August 9, 200718 yr Take this one from Yellow for an example: 0-----0 0-----0 8-----9 7-----7 9-----9 7-----7 Verse 0------0------0 0------2------0 8------3------1 7------4------0 9------4------2 7------2------0 The first chord there just seem incredibly odd to me. Going down the strings, I play it like this: Index, Pinky, Middle, Ring. That's just a really weird fingering to me. And the chord after that I have no idea how to even play it. The 7, 9, 7, 9 one. And under the verse, for the 2, 4, 4, 3, 2 bar chord, how are you supposed to play that as a bar and leave the bottom string open?
August 9, 200718 yr Well, the clue about playing Coldplay-songs is: Don't forget you've got five fingers on your left hand! You can use your thumb to do those "odd" chords - simply kind of wrap it around the neck of your guitar and push down the 6th string with it. It takes some practice to make it sound alright, but comes in very handy in many songs (because you have a spare finger left, then).
August 9, 200718 yr Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I've definitely tried using my thumb before, but it's really hard for me to wrap it around and be able to push down on the 6th string. It must take time and practice to get your thumb flexible enough, lol.
October 25, 200718 yr The Scientist For the Scientist I found a tab that seems accurate but it sounds slightly offkey. Did Coldplay artificially augment the tone liek 20% or is it just me? Try this tab out and let me know if you have the same problem. The tone just doesnt match the album version and when if I play it a half step higher it's too high.. ahh! May 10, 200818 yr does anyone know of a correct tab of murder, everything i've seen is way off yeah, I just downloaded the song 4 days and I have already listened to it 50+ times on Itunes. However, I found zilch when I searched a round for a tab. All I know is that hal-leonard has a tab book for all the coldplay singles and b-sides that includes the murder tab, but I don't know how accurate that book is. If anyone here can vouch for it, I will buy a copy and scan copies of tabs from the book&put em up...or if someone has a tab for murder, that would be awesome as well :cool: By the way, the see you soon tab on page 3 or 4 of this thread is really good. However, I am not sure if one part of the verse is "exactly" right. I could be wrong, but I am going through it for the first time right now and something sounds slightly off -> not chord wise, but the strings that are strummed of the third chord during the verse
