Random Coldplay thoughts...

Violet probably doesn't even know her bell is missing!:P

Anyhow, random thought of the day for Coldplay: here's hoping our next Pres. doesn't just become another puppet on a lonely string! "Oh, who would ever want to be King.."

..Though, he probably won't ever be like George, but I fear he's slipping toward the hawks.

  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

It's odd, every time I hear 'Amsterdam' I think of Prague.

And 24 is my favorite number, which is 42 backwards! What a coincidence!

Every Friday I have a guitar lesson. On the way to my guitar teacher's house there's a house we always have to pass and it's address # 42 and I get all excited every time. Every damn time...

My neighbor's house is #42. :D

This was overheard at a Doves show "you rock more than Coldplay". I found this quite funny, as I was at the show (I dont recall that, but I do remember Jimi not in a great mood and the show not so great). Ah - the joys of DC shows. So many times everyone complains about the crowd - thank god im in NYC! (and Im not sure what is with 2005 and all the references to Coldplay in any band playing in DC 2005, but its everywhere).

Doves at the 9:30 Club

We think something irked Doves last night at the 9:30 Club, considering their abrupt exit from stage following "There Goes the Fear." Part of it may have started when during a slight lull early on someone in the crowd yelled "You rock more than Coldplay!" Perhaps that declaration was backhanded criticism, perhaps it was a compliment. What ever it was, it seemed that could have struck a raw nerve, and Doves, who have carved out a devoted fan base with their distinct Manchester sound, seemed to be slightly annoyed with the Washington crowd. The performance -- which primarily tapped from the trio's solid past work from Lost Souls and the Last Broadcast -- was executed flawlessly (with a few minor audio issues) and the band's expertise in the multi-layering of sound was impressive. But something was missing.

While there were certainly devoted fans (even attracting a starstruck younger girl trying to sneak in backstage through the left balcony claiming she had just had just undergone a kidney transplant and needed to see the band from back stage because of her catheter ... after being denied she promptly lit a cigarette, which is probably just perfect for someone with fresh organ work), Doves failed to engage the quasi-stoic Monday night audience. And that's a shame, because the show could have been an animated experience for everyone.

We agree with Matt of Blog Shamblogg:

My disgustingly high hopes for the show may have knocked it down a peg in my mind, but it was certainly an incredible experience, and I hope that the rest of the crowd realizes just how special a band Doves is (are?).

But we aren't sure if the crowd did.

And yet another DCist article (whom I really cant stand)... Man these guys are snarky.

After hearing an advanced copy of Idlewild's latest album, Warnings / Promises, during a road trip to Detroit back in June, DCist thought it was the beginning of the end for Idlewild. Our first reaction to the new album's mostly acoustic based rock had us fearing they had spent too much time touring with Coldplay and were turning into the new Crosby, Stills and Nash. But we were unable to spend time with that record due to our brief trip so we humbly made the trip to the Black Cat to let the band prove us wrong and see if they still had the goods live. And we are very happy to report that they did and they do. blah blah blah

******

And Idlewild lived up to everything and more. granted my friend is good friends with the band and we were hanging out afterwards with everyone for a bit. Now if only her friend could work as part of the stage crew with Coldplay my life would be set!

 maybe we should cross off chips and muffins, and start saying pringles...

Well this isnt a thought. But its something that happend.

I had an exam isnt something we call general knowledge. And I had a question: Viva La Vida or Death and all his Friends (translated on my language) is new album of which band:

a) Oasis

b) U2

c) Backstreet boys

d) New kids on block

e) Coldplay

(And there was some people who had NO idea) *shame*

^^ how cool is that ! a coldplay related question in an exam !!

I did something which i thought was pretty bad at work this morning.. and i was really starting to worry because I thought my boss would be mad.. and i got nervous in front of customers, and then I realised "fix you" was on. I felt a bit better ! :nice:

edit : Nick, if you ever visit this thread and read this post, check out the first pic, right bottom hand corner.. there's a little Gizmo :laugh3: It made me think of you today and had a good laugh.

i'm going to paris almost definitely in two weekends, and my main stop is the louvre. of COURSE i want to see the louvre anyway, duh, but the fact that the *real* "liberty leading the people" is there makes it all the more appealing :nice:

and i'll be wearing my viva la vida t-shirt and listening to the song all the way there, i promise :D. well, that song and the amelie soundtrack :P

ooh, you definitely have to take a pic of you with the painting !! and your copy (not sure if you brought it with you though..)

didn't bring it with me, sadly

no one will be with me to take the pic, either, so i'll have to see about that. but i'll take a photo of the painting for SURE! (well, assuming cameras are allowed in the louvre...they are, aren't they?)

^ Yes :D

Or at least if they're not I just got away with it when I went

I think cameras are allowed but like most museums prob no flash photography. I remember not being able to take pictures of the Mona Lisa.

really? because all my friends have taken photos of the mona lisa. i'm fine with not using flash if that's what it takes, but dammit, i WILL get a photo of "liberty leading the people," and perhaps even a pic of me beside it in my VLV t-shirt :P

exactly. Cameras are fine as long as you dont use flashes. they're allowed for permanent exhibitions but not for others. So it should be good for you Chelsea !

Two really random expericence today:

I was running on the treadmill today, and when I was done I had ran 1.36 km :P.

And then later today someone said "it's true" on the TV and I started singing "look how they shine for youuu".

Coldplay freak ! :P

Just remembered an interview they did when X&Y was released. They were asked about musicians that each member like and people who have inspired them and Guy said "Paul McCartney from Wings". It's not actually funny at all, but the way he said and the laughter that ensued was hilarious :P

^the whole interview is just hilarious ! I love it, one of my fave. Guy cant help but laugh all the time.

^ I have to ask where the Jonny quote in your siggy is from? I'd love to listen to it in it's full context! :)
