Most answers here were not so very serious but that's ok because there is indeed not so much negative about Coldplay.

Just one thing that is bothering me...their way into the mainstream.

I am a little bit afraid about what's coming next. Will there be a fifth album which is popular but has a lack of the typical Coldplay sound again?

I think of the calmness and the profoundness of Parachutes for example. Or the songwriter moments of A rush of blood to the head and the sad melodies of X&Y. Don't forget the untouchable sound of Pre-Parachutes.

Don't get me wrong I love Viva la vida and all the songs on it but I see a development that I don't really like. It started with X&Y but I think it's much more obvious in the Viva la vida era. They start to make music for the masses, it seems like they do not want to offend anyone. Except of 42 and maybe Yes there is no song with rough edges. I don't think that it's only their fault, we have to consider that there is a big company behind them. We do not know how much artistical freedom they really have. In a time in which you cannot make much money with just selling your cds you have to go on big world tours. To fill the halls you have to make music everybody likes. After the tour you are outworn and maybe not able to be as creative as you usually are... Just a thought. I'm really happy if I'm wrong about it and the next CP-Album will be the greatest thing we've ever heard in our life.

The fact that they've toured North America about 3 or 4 times now, Europe about 2 or 3 but not once have they toured Latin America on this tour :dozey:

I dislike that they don't play anything from Parachutes except for Yellow :(

Also.. that I am so addicted to seeing them in concert because they are soo amazing, can't even tell you how much money I have spent on their concerts(I have seen them 8 times in the last four years), no other band can compare to them live.

I was just about to say this. Took the words right out of my mouth.

The mainstream-ness is killing their gorgeous music for me.

Gwyneth.

There. I said it.

LMAO. I was about to say, in jest, I hate the fact that Chris met Gwyneth before he met me as we would be perfect for each other. ;)

^ Do you mean people either worship them or loathe them? It's like Marmite.

I agree with all of this!

I'm a bit worried about the future albums too as I don't want Coldplay to loose their typical sound which they kind of did when they released Viva, imo.

I want back the old CP-style, even though I think the viva-style is nice too.

But yeah, they guys have never disappointed us yet, so why wouldn't the fifth album be just gorgeous as the rest?

I have to say right now there is absolutley nothing I don't like about CP.

I am dead excitited what they going to do next, something tells me that they will do something that one will expect them to do.

I dont think they will ever go back to the "coldplay sound" of 10 years ago....which is good as you need to change, development and try new things - you will not be able to take everybody with you but as long as they believe in what they are doing it will be fine.

P.

The fact they don't publish the lyrics to their songs in the album sleeve :(

@ l0wxo2, they played 'Trouble' in Dallas last week, but yeah I agree, so that was the ultimate treat :D

"What is Marmite?"

"Terrible... no, no, no, no! It's great, it's great!"

paul </3

the fact that most of their lyrics are actually depressing :(

Marmite is yum! It's yeast extract spread stuff. I used to hate it but then started liking it as I got older. I don't have it much now since I live in the States now :(

^ Do you mean people either worship them or loathe them? It's like Marmite.

yes

and just the fact that when people dont like them, they usually HATE them. it's like coldplay committed some personal crime against them.

I really hate the fact that I have to justify my love for their music and them to people I know all the time... oh well, the poor souls don't know what they miss.

The only thing I don't like is that Guy smokes...I just don't want him to get lung cancer or anything like that. He needs to be around for a long time to make more beautiful music with Chris,Will, and Jonny!

The only thing I hate is the perception in the press that it's "Chris Martin & the other three"

I hate about two thirds of Viva La Vida.

But besides that, yeah, they're great :D

i have to agree with some about them being too popular, and i dont mind that they are liked by a lot of people BUT...

its just that its sooooo annoying that its so freakin hard to get tix to their concerts. and then some of those people who go, dont even know all their songs or leave right after hearing viva la vida.

i dont like that feeling of them going mainstream

i also dislike that they dont like making dvd's of their concerts

even though theres some things i dont like about coldplay i dont HATE anything at all about them.

I wish they'd bring back the piano rock element. I loved the experimentalism of VLV and X & Y, but bring back the piano and I'd be the happiest Coldplayer in the world.

ummm... Will doesn't talk enough

i don't know i feel like i never really get to see his true personality.

:thinking::uhoh:
