I can't think of a title for this thread but it's about VLV and stuff

Featured Replies

Probably there are other threads like this one but I'm too lazy to search.

It's almost time to start to get a massive amount of news about LP5 and the excitement is already growing. But I was thinking about VLV and how my opinion of that album has changed. I absolutely loved it when it was released and probably that was influenced by all the crazyness and fangirlism in the air. I still like most of the viva songs and I think that as a whole it works well but it could be way better. I haven't listened that album in months and when I do I skip yes, violet hill, etc. [insert "oh I miss the old coldplay" kind of comments here :P]

What do you think now? has your opinion on VLV changed over the years?

 I can't believe it's been so long since it was released!

I wasn't a part of the forum back then so I wasn't affected by fangirlism or anything like that. I'd say the album has definitely changed for me, though... At first I loved all of it (thought Yes was a bit strange) but now I rarely listen to the whole album. Just my favourites.

I don't know... It's a Coldplay album but at the same time it's not their usual sound at all. I don't really know where I'm going with this, haha.

:escaping:

I really love VLVODAAOHF,,

It makes me think of the first time i heard Coldplay :3

But still..I don't belive thats CP's best album.

yes, as she said, I wasn't part of the board when it was released and so I missed all the excitement and the fangirlism about the album :laugh3:. I went to the store, I got it and tbh, at first I didn't like it all that much. It took me a few listens to finally accept the change in direction they had given to their music. I had loved Violet Hill, but I found the rest of the album kinda weird. A while after that I picked it up again and gave it another try, and I loved it. I think it was because I knew what I was going to listen and I had got over the shock

Now, I still love most of the album, I think it was good that they tried to experiment with their sound. I rarely listen to the whole of it nowadays, though. My favourites are: Cemetries of London, 42, Strawberry Swing and Death and All His Friends.

i hated that album the first time i heard it but then loved most of the songs after a while

and its true it has become boring unlike AROBTTH or Parachutes

I still love the album as much as I loved it at the beginning, but I never said it's free of flaws and I understand why tons of people can't stand it.

So nothing really changed for me .... I still love the old Coldplay a lot more though.

I still like it like I liked it for the first time. (thats a lot of likes. :D) I still enjoy Lovers in Japan, Strawberry Swing, Death and all his friends, Lost and Cemeteries of London.

It was never my fav album and as Lore said I miss the old Coldplay.

I didn't really get to know Coldplay before Viva came out, and ever since I heard the album I loved it. To me it's equal to the other albums in terms of how much I love it. It's different, but it's brilliant in my eyes. And I'm glad they don't have 4 albums that are like Parachutes or something. I love Parachutes, but my point is that I think the albums get better because they're one of a kind, Coldplay keeps exploring and I think that's very good for their music.

But I do miss the old era's, I wish I could've been there, and I already miss the viva era too, the butterflies, the costumes, all the things that aren't coming back. I feel every era is so special, and great, and I'll always want more of it.

I also wasn't part of the forum back then.

The first couple of times I listened to the album it was weird because it's new and you don't know it yet. I kept listening to it over and over until I knew all the lyrics and then I just really liked it. I also like the other albums (off course) and I don't have a favourite album, I have favourite songs.

I don't listen to Viva La Vida weekly, but I still really like it. I tend to skip Yes, but still listen to it, because of Chinese Sleep Chant (fantastic song). Other favourites (in album order): 42/Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love/Death And All His Friends.

I used to like Viva La Vida, but I heard it too many times on the radio.

Other favourite songs from the Viva era: Life In Technicolor ii/Postcards From Far Away/Lost?

well, i rarely listen to coldplay anymore but it's nice to hear viva songs once in a while when iTunes is on shuffle. I don't think that means I love the album less though.

I used to be obsessed over it.

Now I think it's good, but not the best.

This thread for best thread name ever!

And I must agree with most of you guys really. At first I was blown away with the album. It was so different. And I was glad they changed their direction a bit. But I don't really listen to it that often.

Still! I think that if we didn't have had this album, something would've gone horribly wrong just like when they were recording X&Y. They needed this for themselves. And we can't really say that what came out was bad, because it's not at all.

I love VLV in the same way like all the other albums and it isn't boring for me... Different, but genious in its own way...

Live Viva La Vida

Love Viva La Vida

FOREVER

I don't like "Yes." Everything else was really good though.

VLVODAAHF was the first album I knew by Coldplay and immediately fell in love with it, I still love it and my opinion hasn't changed about it. I love all the albums but this one is special for introducing me to Coldplay. :)

I thought the album was amazing and brilliant the first time I heard it (initial excitement, fangirling and all), but my opinion has changed after a year or so. (Probably because of reading other people's opinions on VLVODAAHF. :blank:)

It's still a special album to me, and I still love Life in Technicolor, Chinese Sleep Chant, and Death and All His Friends. I'm glad that they wanted to try experimenting with new sounds.
