My guess is that this song 'evolved' from Wedding Bells.... as much of their music dies. There are lines from Crest Of Waves in other songs, as well as No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground etc....

 

I like the tune though... I'm intrigued to see what direction the new album will take if this is any indication..... :)

Chris mentioned in the Radio 1 interview it would be foolish to put this song out in February as it's a Christmas song. Then in the XFM interview 30 minutes later he said basically the same thing but added the date which was the 9th.

 

Now why would he say February - twice?? February is still winter and still close to Christmas, no?

 

I think that is a hint. I think the album is finished pretty much - Chris said they were choosing the final batch of songs.

 

Maybe a single in February and an album in March?? They seem much further ahead than they were this time in 2004 & 2007. It would be nice to have an album out for the Spring!

in the XFM one he said that if the song hadn't directly mentioned Christmas it would sound more like February 9th :P

Oh yeah so with that kind of plan it would be early spring which sounds very reasonable because if they have 15 that's more than enough for a new album! :thinking:

This is me..... agreeing with what you said.

If only Will could choose his bass drum sounds and drum parts quicker! It's hard to believe they are still playing around and trying different parts.. Especially if they have been working on songs that are older than that! No wonder the tunes come out so amazing, but still.

I adore Christmas Lights! Now I want more new Coldplay though :(

December 1st will be special for me now. I had a really good time figuring out how to listen to a radio station from London. And those songs I heard before the coldplay song now remind me of that wonderful anticipation of christmas lights. So im gonna enjoy all this anticipation and excitement for the new coldplay album. Its crazy to think how long its been since the first time I heard of them...whoa just got hit by a huge wave of nostalgia *sigh*

 

...oh right, should be doing my essay. I wish I could write academic essays as easy as I can write about coldplay.:lol:
