Speaking of Coldplay instrumentals... I NEED them to officially release a studio version of Famous Old Painters. I think it's actually become a survivalist instinct for me. I won't be able to live much longer without it....

Hmm not sure it is a requirement to know all their catalogue in order to call yourself a fan? Perhaps they would not be hardcore fans, but I am sure Coldplay would anyway call them fans :)

I'm not talking about knowing their whole catalogue or where Jonny was born and in what hospital and how much he weighed at birth--I've never even been to a concert of theirs.

I'm simply speaking of the crowd who hears one minute of Viva La Vida on the radio and then go around saying "Oh yeah I love Vida la Clocks they're awesome!"

The first song that I knowingly heard from Coldplay was in fact Viva La Vida. It was because of that song that I began to like Coldplay. I'm not saying that you can't listen to just one song and then claim you are a fan. I'm saying that you can't jump on the bandwagon of their most popular song just to say you are a fan. There's a difference between liking a song, and liking the band.

For instance, I like 'Take Me Out' by Franz Ferdinand. I thusly consider myself a small fan of Franz Ferdinand, but more so of that song. I don't own any albums of his, and I haven't heard many other songs by him.

On the other hand, I like quite a few Beatles songs. However, I do not consider myself a fan of the Beatles.

I'm not saying that anyone who hasn't heard all of Coldplay's albums 10 times is not a "true fan"; for the longest time I had never listened to X&Y or A Rush of Blood to the Head; however, I still considered myself a fan of Coldplay.

So when I say 'fan,' I mean someone who likes the band and/or a song(s) that they perform, in contrast to someone who hears a song on the radio and just likes that particular song.

For instance, I've heard many-a-times people say "I love Nirvana! Smells Like Teen Spirit is my favorite song!" Now that's fine--you can love "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and be a huge Nirvana fan. However, those same people, when asked "What's your second favorite song of theirs?" will then go "Uh, I don't know..." not out of being unable to choose, but simply because they don't know any other songs. Those persons then I would not consider to be 'huge fans' as they stated themselves; rather, they are fans of the song.

In short, it takes little to nothing to be a fan.

Franz Ferdinand is actually a 'They' not a 'him'. Sorry to correct but in context of your post it's pretty ironic...;)

There's no lines that need to be drawn for determining who is a fan and who isn't. This is a very tired debate topic. If you're a fan of something, it's because that's just the way it is. Personal likes and dislikes come naturally.

No I meant the actual Archduke. He made some rather good music.

LP6 should be about him.

Oh it will be...and a double album at that, lol.

On an unrelated note Franz Ferdinand are hard at work on their new album about Chris Martin..

Oh I get it-- 'Fresh Strawberries' is about 'Strawberry Swing.'

Does anyone know if this song is titled "Plan B" and is it new or old??

I love it!

ugh not again that fake or real thing.

it sounds like a moving to mars kind of song btw.

MOVING TO MARS :dazzled:

One thing I am totally mad about is the fact that I don't have iTunes, so I have to download it illegal , and I will never download a Coldplay song illegal. So I never listen to this song :(

That was not my question - real or fake. I did not know this song; can you tell me about it?

And I do not have Itunes neither. Thanks for the song!

I doubt it is real, in my rememberings the song has passed the forum before, not sure about it.

sounds nice to me though i am not sure if it is really an old demo of them

Same song, uploaded in 2010:

It doesn't get more fake than this.

Thank you for clearing this up!

Bleh ... I am fooled...:embarrassed:

For me it was a very rough first version of a potentially good song. "Jonathan" sounds like CM, although the way he played the piano made me doubt a bit.

^ Yes :laugh3: But I would like to meet person with Chris voice :P

With most bands/artists, if you like one or two hit songs you are probably likely to like the rest of their songs as well, as most artists have a particular signature/style and you either like it or not. So if you like Smells like Teen Spirit there is a HUGE chance you´re gonna like the whole Nevermind album :) So I guess in a way one could be a fan just knowing a few songs, but in the case of Coldplay I can totally see where you´re coming from, as their style is very varied and has changed through the years, so harder to make a judgement based on two songs.

Just seven more days til Atlas comes out! I can't freaking wait for that... After all, it could be the start of the LP6 era... O.o

Yes, they need their moments of self-indulgence.

^ That was said on wikipedia, everyone can put whatever they want there :dozey:

stupid name btw

Yeah I guess that's true.

And do you mean you don't like my avatar name or random acts?
