OneTwoThree
SIZE] Where is the time that Chris was totally in love with Jeff Buckley or Arcade Fire? Now he seems to be in love with Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and Usher. I wonder if Will is really agreeing with all this. :\ I agree...that this has Chris written all over it. Though I do expect Rihanna to only sing some lalalalaa's. I hope so anyway.
Ronnie O Sullivan
Okay, let's make things clear.[/size] So I've been waiting for the new Coldplay material for about 30 months. I was very pleased about the news that they would be recording songs in a church to make an extra acoustic sound. I liked the simple though great sounding songs Spanish Rain and Wedding Bells. But then, suddenly...we were all getting the feeling of this 'overproduced electronic garbage'. The Oracle said that we were wrong about this, but then they brought us 'Every Teardrop is a Waterfall'. We assumed it was kind of a summer hit, not intended to sound like the new album. We were already losing some hope though. We heard new songs on the festivals. They are OK but still nothing compared to old Coldplay work. They planned our BIGGEST disappointments for today, September 12. Two in one day actually: PARADISE and RIHANNA. The song is even more 'overproduced' than ETIAW. I mean, JUST compare it to these tracks: Prospekt's March/Poppyfiels High Speed A Rush Of Blood to the Head Death and All His Friends (and The Escapist) Paradise is TOTAL garbage compared to these masterpieces. Second disappointment: Rihanna is just a whining R&B top-40 trash artist. I have always hated her arrogant voice. Female vocals...I was thinking of The Pierces, Natalie Imbruglia or even Gwyneth Paltrow. But when I fearst read Rihanna I was thinking about starting a campaign against Chris's careless and wrong decisions. What is he thinking? Is he hoping to get laid by the bitch? (she's so hot btw) And one last thing...'Coldplay will never be as good as Take That'? Is that a joke? I like Take That and Robbie Williams, their shows are great, but their music has never been as good as Coldplay's (early) work. Where is the time that Chris was totally in love with Jeff Buckley or Arcade Fire? Now he seems to be in love with Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and Usher. I wonder if Will is really agreeing with all this. Some still wont accept were now in the MX-Era...who doesnt like it,bye !!! But i´m so pissed of reading 123456789 critics about them all the day !!! If you dont like it,go and listen to something else !!!
MrAubreyODay
I don't want to judge til I hear the song, but it could have been a lot worse. We could be getting Ke$ha or Katy Perry on the song. THAT would be awful...

Skin&Bones
Jesus christ. I joined this website to talk about the excitement I had about the new album, not defend my favorite band from the 'fans' that want to preserve the old sound. But it is not what most of the fans expected. Many fans just don't like it. Commercial is the big word.

LoryABjerre
You couldn't be more wrong. Rihanna is a shallow, unintelligent "artist who got famous for getting beat up. Her voice makes me want to jump over a bridge. I can honestly say I've never been more disappointed with the band. immature and know nothing of the personality of Rhianna, And it's not in his career fack that you find his personality. Music and voiceVolume 65 of the Contemporary Black Biography book series notes that "Rihanna is the rare rhythm and blues (R&B) diva to emerge from the Caribbean world."[110] Becoming an international sensation, Rihanna is known for blending R&B with Caribbean music, such as reggae and dancehall.[111] Peter Coulter of the Antrim Times commented that "[Rihanna] has an amazing voice which showed during her acoustic set, she just needs to work on her audience engagement during live shows."[112] At the time of her debut, reviewers referred to her as a "bubblegum queen"[113] and her music to "teen pop."[114] Larry Meyler of The Sun stated that "Rihanna going bad is very good" and that she had "[shaken] off any 'teen pop' image as she rocked the stage."[114] While performing at the Ottawa Bluesfest, Denis Armstrong of Canadian Online Explorer commented on her performance saying "her show was a Disney-esque choreographed fantasy of non-stop hip-swivelling, sassy attitude and personal endearments and a string of funky, sugar-free hits."[113] "Pon de Replay" (2005) "Pon de Replay" is Rihanna's debut single. The song encompasses the reggae genre using a mixture of dance-pop and R&B. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Problems listening to this file? See media help. Rihanna was originally marketed as a reggae singer since she burst into the music scene in 2005, with a styles of pop, R&B and dancehall. Her music include various styles of musical genres, including contemporary R&B, dance-pop and the Caribbean music styles of reggae and dancehall.[115] With the release of Music of the Sun and its lead single "Pon de Replay", Jason Birchmeier of Allmusic described Rihanna's musical style as "synthesize Caribbean rhythms and beats with standard-issue urban dance-pop: Caribbean-inflected urban, if you will."[116] Rihanna is described as utilizing "dancehall-lite beats and a reggae vocal cadence."[116] NME describes the singer as a "heady mix of dancehall, reggae and contemporary R&B."[117] Barry Walters of Rolling Stone considers Rihanna's A Girl Like Me to be "lightweight dancehall and R&B jams."[118] After the release of Good Girl Gone Bad, Allmusic's Andy Kellman credits Rihanna to be "as pop as pop gets."[119] Kelefa Sanneh of The New York Times described her hit "Umbrella" as a lightweight pop confection with a heavy hip-hop backbeat, a breezy love song enriched by those unexpectedly goth-sounding keyboards and by the incongruous hint of anguish in Rihanna’s girlish voice.[120] Her debut album featured production from pop veterans Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken who first discovered her. Sturken and Rogers have collaborated with Rihanna many times, including with her debut single "Pon de Replay", which helped launch her career with the tradition of reggae and dance pop and collaborated on her second album. Rihanna then enlisted into the pop and contemporary R&B working with music producer Stargate and singer-songwriter Ne-Yo on "Unfaithful"[54] and sampling the key section, bass line, and drum beat from Soft Cell's 1981 single "Tainted Love" on "SOS".[121] With songs like "Kisses Don't Lie" and "Shut Up and Drive", her music style became more rock-oriented.[41] Unlike Music of the Sun or A Girl Like Me, her third album contained a more dance-pop sound[122] and less of the dancehall, reggae and ballad styles of her previous albums.[123] She has included various styles of music from uptempo pop-reggae with "Pon De Replay", to an 80s new wave fueled club banger "SOS" to the whiff of gothic horror in a love song "Unfaithful". Most of her love subject ballads contain a mid-tempo pop sound, with an R&B influences that uses of a gently strummed acoustic guitar with the production of Stargate and the songs written by Ne-Yo.[42] Some of her up-tempo dance-pop songs include production from Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and J. R. Rotem.[124] She has also sampled songs from other artist like Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" on "SOS",[121] New Order's "Blue Monday" on "Shut Up and Drive" and '70s original song "Soul Makossa" of Manu Dibango with a part of the chorus from Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" on "Don't Stop the Music". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rihanna

In any case we HOPE the seven songs we don't know will all be better than Paradise. And about the 'worst band' thing...SO many people are complaining here. We are basically complaining because we don't like Rihanna, Paradise and because we don't like Coldplay's attitude very much at the moment. So I don't think you can blame the fans. IloveChris
They could've chosen anyone! Seriously, some of her LIVE performances are just embarrassing.

I don´t blame the fans, but some fans seem to blame Coldplay (and often their spouses and other Coldplay fans for actually liking MX). The guys have taken up a direction: if you don´t like it, you have the right to say so and why, but that´s about it. There should be no blame put on anyone. It's just Rihanna is one of my least favorite artists. The thing is I really want to hear PoC, but not Rihanna's voice in it. Sorry I'm not making much sense, I'm hoping I'll wake up tomorrow and find out all this was a bad dream... :\

Cheese Nip 2
I'm not gonna lie, I hate Rihanna's voice. I also hate how she tries to create a really sexual image. To me her image seems very low class. Sure, it may be just an image and not her real mannerisms but I think she sets a horrible example. I'm not going to judge though, I trust Coldplay with this. They are brillian musicians and I'm sure they know what they're doing. I'm sure I'll end up being pleasently suprised.

After all they want her on POC for her VOICE, nothing more , nothing else, so it´s kinda pointless to start talking about her image, even though I don´t like that any more than you do
Karencorpse
I like her voice and some of her songs, but I don't like her songs about Rainmaker which is a witch code word for devil who provides for you. I don't like her ideas of being tied and beaten up. Although she is very talented she is also a bad influence.
reignxoflove
Andi;4970798']Viva la vida is also pure mainstream. That's one of the reasons because I don't like VLV as much as the prior LP's. Nonsense. Anyway, I'm not too optimistic about this, even though I enjoy a few of Rihanna's songs... but I guess I'll wait until I hear the song.
