Sorry... I absolutly love seeing Coldplay spread their wings and experiment, I think Martin has been around and knows what he is doing, and people just need to wait and give it a listen/chance.

I just... I just don't know if I can sing along to Rihanna. I really don't think I can. This is horribly heart breaking. I guess Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven are the only two songs that I can look forward to really getting into. A Hopeful Transmission, M.M.I.X., U.F.O., Up In Flames, and DLIBYH will have to be huge hits for this album to even touch VLV.

I really don't agree with the fact that they invited Rihanna into PoC. The live version sounded so good without her. But I guess we have to wait and hear the track before making a final judgement.

To be honest, i really cant imagine that Rihanna is singing the first parts of the song. I suppose she starts with the "cause you really hurt me"-Part because Chris sung that in a very high note at Rock im Park. So if its going to be like that, i think i can handle it...

Who am I conforming to? There's 2 clear groups here. Those who don't give a crap, and those who are denouncing coldplay as their favourite band as a result.

There's of course the possibility that you just read the first line of my post, which was me imitating 1/2 the userbase here.

What's wrong about it? Rihanna is a very talendet young singer. I will most likely enjoy here being part of this masterpiece of music. I don't see a reason for her not to be a small part of a song (ONE song...come on!).

Guys, I admire your strong views, but I really think we should give Coldplay some credit before we berate them for something like this. Sure, Rihanna is a pop singer, but Coldplay got her because they believe her voice would suit the song. They're not trying to appeal to a mainstream audience (I'd argue all of their albums are pretty mainstream), they're not deliberately following trends, they're just expressing themselves musically, as they have every right to.

 

For all we know, Princess of China could be awesome! Adding a bit of variety to the vocals may be good! (I like all their songs, from Sparks to Amsterdam through to Paradise and ETIAW, just for a scope of my views)

 

Of course, if you hate Rihanna and her voice, you have every right to be annoyed- but if you're angry because she's a 'pop' act, let's just hold judgment!
