XYLOTO is better than Viva by a few miles. I liked Viva, some amazing songs came from it (Lovers in Japan, Strawberry Swing, Viva la Vida) but for some reason it didn't feel like coldplay. XYLOTO just embodies everything Coldplay is, a little of the new and old. It's just more complete.

For me Lovers in Japan should be the comparison to DLIBYH

Not comparable.

 

Mylo Xyloto is an album that is basically supposed to be like a book.

 

Each song is a chapter....they all come together to tell a story that is the book.

 

Viva la Vida is like a collection of short stories. The songs where related but only in theme, not in story. Good album, but MX is meant to be heard all the way through. I feel that to take one song and compare it to Viva would be like taking one chapter of Lord of the Rings and comparing it to a story in a collection of short stories.

 

My opinion.

 

I haven't even listened to Mylo Xyloto, but I completely agree.

whew.... this thread is pointless.... MX is a story album so the songs are completely supporting one another.. Viva is also a concept album but its songs are not bonded together.

people may ask this: where are the great songs of MX? the answer: the album is just a large song!!! there are no standouts because all of them are brilliant... like what i've said, they support each other to convey the message^^
