20.07 And the winner is... Coldplay. Their eighth Brit and recognition of their mega-grossing tour with the lighty-uppy wristbands. Two blokes who aren't Chris Martin collect the gong and the disappointment in the arena is almost palpable.

this one they definitely 100% deserved. congratulation boys. and can i just say will and jonny look absolutely fantastic. so much better without the silly outfits.

These awards are just dire! They created a 'Global Success Award' just so they could get those annoying little prick's One Direction on the stage and present them with something. For once I hope Will Champion and Jonny Buckland ditch that nice guy image and just go backstage and plunge that Harry Style's head into a toilet to the point he's grovelling, fully believing he's going to drown.

these fucking morons will just never go away. i say we raise funds on here to hire a contract killer and then ask him to run them over with an M1 Abrams

Coldplay 'pleased hard work honoured' at the Brit Awards

Band members Will Champion (left) and Jonny Buckland (right) collect award

Coldplay have admitted that "a bit of recognition is wonderful" after collecting their eighth Brit Award.

The British band beat Muse and Mumford & Sons to win best live act at the event.

"We're always pleased to come to these things and to win is amazing," said drummer Will Champion when interviewed backstage after the ceremony.

"We feel that we've worked very hard at our live shows so to get a bit of recognition is wonderful."

Coldplay started experimenting with giving the crowd at their shows digital wristbands that flash in time to their live music in October 2011.

Since then the Xylobands have become an integral part of the Coldplay live experience.

Will Champion felt their latest Brit win also honoured their wider creative team.

He said: "It's a great thing because we've been able to use things made by exceptional people - people like Jason Regler who invented the wristbands that we use.

"He had an idea about five years ago to invent this little thing while he was watching one of our shows on TV.

"So to bring an idea like that out and then let it do its thing is a brilliant thing."

Chris Martin (pictured) and bassist Guy Berryman couldn't attend the Brits

Coldplay's Jonny Buckland was also at the Brit Awards while Chris Martin and Guy Berryman were not able to attend.

When asked if any new music was materialising since 2011's Mylo Xyloto, it was an emphatic "no" from lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, although he did concede he was doing "the occasional jam session" with Will Champion.

"It's nothing productive though," the drummer was keen to point out.

"It's absolutely dreadful. Garbage, abstract, avant-garde nonsense.

"So you shall never hear of it, even if we released it you'd never hear it."

Whoa, insane shizstorm going on....

**

But yay Coldplay won! I had my phone with me during orchestra practice yesterday and had it on my music stand, watching the Brits so I could read the music and watch at the same time. :D

(It's hard not to scream and play violin at the same time...)

Oh puh-lease. I hope Dom was being sarcastic. Whilst Muse do put on a visually spectacular show, like Coldplay, Matt has no connection with the audience. Chris is miles ahead of him here in that he is genuine, warm and makes an effort to acknowledge the audience.
