Secret Santa time! This year you have the option to choose between sending a card to your own continent or another continent. For example:

 

Europe to Europe

or

Europe to North America, South America, Africa, Asia or Australia

 

If you would like to join this year please let us know asap. The deadline for signing up is Sunday 13 October, 11:59 PM CET.

 

We need the following information:

- Your name and address; please display it as you would write it on an envelope. The only person who will receive this information is your Secret Santa.

- Your email address (we need to be able to get in touch with you in case you won't reply to Coldplaying PMs).

- Secret Santa match preference (your continent or other continent). Note: please only mention if you want a match from your own or another continent instead of a specific continent preference.

 

You can send your details to the SantaClaus account (click here to send the PM).

 

It takes a while to make all the matches, you will receive your Secret Santa match in week 44 (28 October - 3 November).

 

A couple of important points:

- Send your card as soon as possible but definitely before the end of November so that it will arrive in time for Christmas! Use airmail if that option is available.

You can ask your local post office how long it will take for your card to arrive. In previous years some cards never arrived and some people received their card long after Christmas (January/February) so please try to send the card in time.

- Send a PM to the SantaClaus account after you send your card to your Secret Santa match.

- Post a message in this thread after receiving your card (with a photo if possible so that everyone can see what your card looks like).

It's almost time for Secret Santa 2013 and there might be a couple of changes this year. The most important one is giving people the option to choose between sending something to another or their own continent. For example:

Thanks for being early - time runs fast: Christmas things and ads in paper for Christmas events are already beginning to appear.

 

 

If weather is bad (cold with much snow) or people are late in sending something then it might after all be preferable for many to choose to send something within their own continent for the sake of it arriving around Christmas and not later.

 

 

Personally I like both options (sending to another continent and sending within my own continent). So no preference here. And of course I am in.

I'm in, but here the mail is really slow, it took me 3 months to send a card to a friend in the region next to mine :(

No preference here. I would be happy to send to my own or to another continent.

Every ones knows by now that mail can be really really slow. We can anticipate on that and start the christmas season early :P

My biggest advice for Secret Santa is GET THEM OUT EARLY!! Like midddle/end of November if you are sending to someone in another country. I know very well it can take like 6 weeks to get to Chile

yeah...me too! The first time I did not receive anything, neither my present got to its destination...the second time I got my card but mine probably got lost again because I had no news :(
