Setlist Predictions for the future Ghost Stories Tour?

Featured Replies

If we take out Up in Flames, this would be an absolutely perfect setlist. Well done!

I really really dont understand all the hate Up in Flames gets. Its an amazing song imo, sometimes I feel like Im the only one who likes it.

You're not alone. I like it as well :)

It's not the best song they have ever made but it is still a nice tune.

Taking into account the heavy electric drum beat, I reckon it would fit perfect into the next set list.

As long as they dont have PoC in there, ill be happy.

Parachutes: Yellow, (being ambitious here but) Parachutes/We Never Change, and Trouble

Rush Of Blood: GPASUYF, Clocks, and In My Place

X&Y: Fix You, Speed Of Sound, and Til Kingdom Come

Viva: Viva, Lovers In Japan, Death And All Of His Friends, and Postcards From Far Away/Prospekts March

MX: Every Teardrop, Charlie Brown, and Paradise

Ghost Stories: Magic, A Sky Full Of Stars, O, Midnight, Anothers Arms, and Always In My Head

So it /might/ look like this

Always In My Head

Charlie Brown

In My Place

Magic

O

Viva

Anothers Arms

GPASUYF

Postcards/Prospekts March

Til Kingdom Come

Parachutes/We Never Change

Speed Of Sound

Paradise

Trouble

Death And All His Friends

Every Teardrop

Yellow

Lovers In Japan

Encore

Fix You

Clocks

A Sky Full Of Stars

Midnight

edit: magic was on here twice, so I fixed it and added fix you

I don't hate it, but I'm not sure how well it fit would fit with this tour.

Why Magic twice?

New on Oracle:

23 April 2014 / submitted by Gaston, Argentina

Q. Why are they called Ghost Stories shows?

I mean, is the concert based only in the songs of the album or is a normal Coldplay show but with new songs?

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

All tours - whether small ones or world ones - have a name of sorts. It's usually the name of or from whatever the current album is.

These live dates are surrounding the release of Ghost Stories hence its name but, as far as I know, it's not going to be a show consisting solely of the album tracks.

This is my dream setlist! Not in any particular order, just as I think of them, also left out the songs from GS that I haven't heard yet or don't know enough to want to hear live. (Not going to happen in NYC but I can dream!)

- Politik

- ETIAW

- Oceans

- Up In Flames

- The Scientist

- VLV

- Midnight

- Shiver

- DLIBYH

- Up With The Birds

- Violet Hill

- Yellow

- Magic

- Charlie Brown

- Another's Arms

- ASFoS

- Everything's Not Lost

- GPaSUYF

- Clocks

I'm not gonna make a prediction, but I'm gonna say that I feel that Ghost Stories has some kind of connection with VLVODAAHF overall, so there are a few songs in that album that I would like them to play again and that would fit really well like: 42, Yes, Chinese Sleep Chant, Cemeteries of London, Death and All His Friends...

I don't think Coldplay would go over 20 songs

I hope there's some variation unlike the last tour, especially if they stick with doing arena shows with two dates per city, maybe make a setlist A and setlist B where the main differences are acoustic tracks as well as rotating in tracks from the new album (This would allow all 9 songs to be played split between two shows)

I think Always in My Head would be a fine start, and they can drag out the choral-ish intro to make a solid two minute Intro track. They can either go straight to Magic but I think they need to do something flashy by Song 2 or 3, probably something from MX. (iTunes festival did it right by going into Charlie Brown second, maybe MX/HLH could work too - especially if they bring back Xylobands and I hope they do)

1 Always In My Head (with extended intro)

2 Hurts Like Heaven (with MX intro)

3 Clocks

4 Magic

5 Yellow

6 Ink/True Love/All My Friends

7 Midnight

Acoustic section

8 Atlas

9 Strawberry Swing/Up In Flames/What If/Green Eyes/Warning Sign/Christmas Lights (in December)

10 Midnight

11 Charlie Brown

12 Another's Arms

13 Viva La Vida

--Side Stage/Encore

14 Oceans

(interlude played during transition)

Main Stage

15 A Sky Full of Stars

16 Paradise

17 O

(interlude playing during transition)

-- Second Encore --

18 The Scientist/Ghost Story

19 Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall (with MMIX intro)/Don't Let It Break Your Heart (with AHT intro)

20 Fix You

(O Reprise playing while lights turn on)

Sorry, but there will be no tour for this album. The next tour will be for the next album between 2015 and 2017.

At any rate I think AIMH is a terrible opener.

Sets totally wrong tone for CP live.

Should be Atlas if anything.

If I would have to make my dream set, it will have lots of old classics but that's not realistic, so I'll also make a realistic set.

Dream set:

Politik

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

A Rush Of Blood To The Head

Charlie Brown

Lovers in Japan

Shiver

The Scientist

Warning Sign

Trouble

Fix You

Magic

Paradise

O

Us Against The World

Green Eyes

See You Soon

A Sky Full Of Stars

In My Place

Talk

Speed Of Sound

White Shadows

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

Yellow

Midnight

Life Is For Living

Amsterdam

The realistic set would be:

Always In My Head

Violet Hill

Charlie Brown

Clocks

Another's Arms

True Love

Paradise

A Rush Of Blood To The Head

Atlas

Magic

Yellow

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

O

Amsterdam

Trouble

Viva La Vida

Talk

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

A Sky Full Of Stars

The Scientist

Midnight

Wow. I just listened to the bonus tracks and I would love love love to hear them live. I think both Ghost Story would be a fantastic opener.

I find it difficult to pick setlists for future shows because you really don’t know how the live shows are gonna pan out. Don’t see Ghost Stories fitting into stadiums, doesn’t have that big stadium vibe like MX did. Coldplay always seem to surprise us and I’m sure they’ve got ideas on how to present this album.

I would like to see more parachutes and more AROBTTH as I feel they fit more with GS.

Is it too much to ask for this setlist? :p

Always In My Head

Yellow

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

Paradise

Charlie Brown

Magic

Ink

Green Eyes

True Love

Clocks

Don't Panic

Lovers In Japan

Viva La Vida

Politik

O (Fly On)

Midnight

Death And All His Friends

Talk

The Scientist

A Rush Of Blood To The Head/Amsterdam

A Sky Full Of Stars

C'mon guys! This should really be doable ;)
