Wow! Hey there buddy :)

I am not at all surprised that Coldplay appeals to people of all age groups :')

Take On Me isn't a Coldplay song. It's a-ha's!! It's from the 1980's!! [emoji1] [emoji106]

Thankyou for correcting me! But I was well, referring to your age and it is a great thing that you are so young and you love coldplay [emoji16]

I was just about as old as you when I heard the Mylo Xyloto album and then coldplay happened to me [emoji28]

No problem! [emoji6] I think I'm the only person in my school who loves (or even likes) Coldplay!! That's frustrating!!

My first song was Atlas. Instant love!! [emoji13]

I'd use Atlas as my ringtone if it wasn't so slow in the beginning [emoji2]

It would make you wonder...

*Coldplay live 2012*

God put a smile upon your face- From AROBTTH. Everyone standing around like walking dead extras watching it through their smartphones.

POC- Coldplay's worst song by far, Rihanna appears and crowd goes wild...

I know its entirely off topic, but this is actually a really valid point and one that's been raised a few times on here by myself included. The phenomena started right after VLV was released. I know it's not unique to Coldplay but it's more dominantly felt in their concerts. More so than in live events of the more established bands and artists of a higher caliber like U2 or The Stones or Springsteen or Anathema or Radiohead etc.

Nowadays when you go to a Coldplay concert I would say only about 2 to 8 percent will probably know their entire discography; which is horrendous. A huge number of them aren't even aware Coldplay existed before 2008! This is because Coldplay is the definition of a multi-generational band. They repeatedly abandoned and alienated their core fanbase to appeal to a wider audience with every album since AROBTTH.

This effect will of course hugely alter their legacy and how they'll be remembered.

How cool is @Kspillers?

I can totally relate to this! I was about 13/14 when I first heard VLV and that's when I became obsessed! Now I'm 21 and I live, breathe and eat Coldplay hahaha

I don't understand why you became Coldplay fans after VLV or MX. I mean, where were you when yellow was released? I'm 22 btw.

Isn't it amazing how Coldplay appeals to only a particular group of people? Or maybe those people which more or less, share a similar mindset and thoughts!

It works like Natural Selection haha!

And i am totally obsessed with Coldplay too. Sadly, here in India, there is not much mention of the band.

When yellow was released, i was 5 years old! Haha

MX and VLV introduced me to Coldplay because before those eras, I did not have any phone or iPod or anything. And that fuelled my curiosity and love for the band and I heard their previous albums too. I have been following them ever since [emoji5]️

I wasn't born yet when Yellow was released [emoji1]

And I became a fan with Atlas, which was followed by Ghost Stories, and while most people criticise this album, I love it!! I love the style, the melodies, everything! Still, I also love Oldplay. Parachutes, A Rush of Blood, X&Y, even Safety and The Blue Room! These are incredible albums, all of them. I love Coldplay bc they never sound the same. They innovate with every new album they release. [emoji4]

Same here in Portugal. I would give a kiss to anyone (any girl) who sang to me a line, that's all, from Brothers & Sisters or Bigger Stronger. People only know the hits and that saddens me.

We should really start talking about A Head Full of Dreams again, cause I'm not sure of what this thread is about anymore [emoji1]

I was 6 when Yellow came out and at that point I really wasn't into music or into discovering new bands, but by the time I was 12 I was already full on obsessed with the Beatles and Coldplay just came naturally when my friend showed me VLV haha it's not that I don't like anything pre-VLV but VLV was just like the introduction to Coldplay I needed hehe!

And I couldn't have agreed with you more! There are some coldplayers who just listen to the main hits and chartbusters and then there are some coldplayers who intricately follow each footstep of the band, each song no matter how ever underrated it is, right from the start.

Just because we didnt follow Coldplay from the beginning of their journey doesn't make us any less worthy of being their huge fans! [emoji2] I love their oldies, Yellow, Trouble, Shiver, What If as much as i love GS and Miracles and Atlas. [emoji5]️

It's so good to find someone who shares the same thoughts as me!

Why isn't that sad? I face the same situation really. People here declare themselves as coldplay fans but they wouldn't be able to answer simple trivia of the band and their songs even! [emoji28]

I bet if I started playing an old Coldplay in the middle of my school everyone would say: "What the heck is that?!"

And I'd be like: [emoji31]

Exactly! I was obsessed about the Beatles and Enrique. [emoji38] Haha i know that doesn't make any sense, but I am really glad i discovered Coldplay through MX before Enrique could kill me. [emoji28]

You know, before I discovered Coldplay's magnificence, my fav singer was Katy Perry. Now, I look back at those times and I say to myself: "What the f*ck was I thinking??!!"

Excellent point. It makes me wonder that, if the guys ever decide to do some nostalgia concerts where they only play songs from Parachutes, ARoBttH, and X&Y, how many of the fans would actually know the songs? Obviously they will still have Yellow, Clocks, The Scientist, Fix You, etc. but other "fan favorites" like Don't Panic, Shiver, Politik, Swallowed in the Sea, etc. might just have people standing around staring at their phones.

It makes me kind of sad, because most of Coldplay's best songs are ones that only the very dedicated fans like us know--especially considering their talent with b-sides.

A lot of Coldplay's b sides are better than the songs on their albums. It would be funny if coldplay would play a b side concert only, a lot of people would be like what? [emoji52] i'd be like [emoji7][emoji23][emoji24]
