LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"

Featured Replies

You're acting like the band absolutely hates its "true" fans and only wants to cater to an audience that's apparently less of a fan. Chris has repeatedly said they want to make their setlist appeal to anyone who knows one song or twenty songs. Sure, the same setlist got old after a while during MX, but this is a very common thing to do with bands this size.

I don't care if you're seeing Springsteen, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, The Who or even The Black Keys -- the vast majority of the audience will not know a good chunk of the songs being played. Why? Because people are willing to spend money to hear the one or two songs they know live. That's the reason why. Coldplay isn't alienating anyone and in no way is it going to leave a negative mark on their legacy unless you're specifically looking for one.

Was just thinking about his voice... I don't think I could handle more hooting. The vocals on true love and all of the poppy yeah yeah yeahs on Miracles literally take so much out of it for me. I miss the days when falsetto was used very sparingly and he sang mostly in mid to low registers. There was too much high pitched garbage and chanting on the last few records. Pop has way too much chanting and whoa oh ohs instead of lyrics nowadays, and Coldplay probably helped start that movement, but I am sick of Chris constantly hooting and trying to make a Sing a long on every song--Look at GS: Magic, Ink, True Love, Another's Arms, midnight ASFOS, O. All tracks have a hoot on them.........

Many tracks in X&Y also have lots of ooohhhs and aaahhhhs. Still, everyone loves X&Y.

True that. He was hooting in all GS songs. He kind of sounds like an owl. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Did you actually read my entire post or just that one last sentence? Anyway they say high blood pressure isn't good for you so I hope you didn't get worked up about anything I said

Every album they've made has been different from the last and had a distinct style. A Head Full of Dreams won't be any different. It's going to be its own thing, not trying to go back to any sound they had before.

ugh i hate when people get passive agressive, and im referring to you nvdmm, man im one of those people who thinks that coldplay's setlist are lame most of the time but i assure you no one is getting alienated, as alway people on her overreact about things that are normal. The only thing coldplay needs to do is longer sets

the band can't think of the hardcore fanbase and that's it, they are aware of their current status and they know that 80% of the crowd is there just for the hits, and they have to please them and you know why? 1 song or 2 songs they have paid as much as you did for that ticket, imagine going there and discovering the band isn't going to play the only songs you know

You're probably right [emoji5]

You can understand the frustration although, If you're a hardcore fan and the band decide to pander to the casual concert goers by playing Magic over Politik while all the while they lethargically stand around tweeting on their smartphones. If you only know two songs why would you bother seeing them anyway? What's even more unfair is the fact an actual fan might miss out on tickets because someone wants to hear VLV live :rolleyes:

I completely agree with you on this. They can't just play their lesser known songs that only real fans know. They have to play the hits for the "fans"

You're right, it is frustrating. But it isn't our frustration that's going to change anything. Unfortunately it isn't.

Back on to the LP7 topic, I'd say we will be most likely to get a single in the last week of August!

Exactly right. And through that, those people can become fans because then they do hear the other songs and enjoy it

A bit of humor as we anxiously await what the first single will sound like :laugh3:

I was looking for the pictures used in this video.. I think these are the great works of Thalia (Batman)..all the Wawawas, paraparaparas & lalalalalas :laugh3::laugh3:

& I think this will be my reaction if the next album is as bad as some people fear it will be :laugh3:

It would be great if they include a number of lesser known songs aka not-the-singles songs for the upcoming tour in support of LP7 but I guess the set list will be mainly composed of LP7 stuff mix with hit singles. Especially if LP7 will turn out to be a very energetic album (shuffle your feet vibe)... maybe it will be hard to insert songs like Swallowed in the Sea, Sparks etc. unless they play it on the smaller stage where they usually play acoustic songs and that cool version of GPASUYF/Talk mix (just remembered Jonny's guitar "space-like" effect).

Hopefully they'll include more aggressive songs for the next tour like politik, violet hill, glass of water would be nuts to hear live. more songs from x&y would be great too.

Unfortunetely, that is very unlikely to happen, since the band doesn't really like X&Y (I can't possibly understand why)
