The Clocks = Speed of Sound thing is nothing more than a myth perpetuated by music critics at the time. I agree, I have become annoyed at hearing it two. They may have the same chord progression, but the important thing is that they have a totally different sound and feel. I mean, honestly, many songs oyu hear nowaydays have the same 4-chord progression but they sound so different. This is an invalid argument against Speed of Sound.
