Thankfully Halo 5 comes out in a few days. That will take some of my attention away from this waiting . As much as it sucks, I think they will end up releasing next year. It would be wise so they don't have a lot to compete with.

Iunno, to me, the lack of announcment means they're working on the album which suggests a better product in the end. This makes me more excited than anxious/irritated. An album in the new year won't disappoint me.

Even with the amount of albums '21' sold, Mylo Xyloto had a better opening week than Adele's first week. Of course, Adele appeals to a lot of casual listeners and sold more albums overall but if it was Coldplay v Adele for their opening week, i'd expect Coldplay to come out on top.

I don't give a f*ck to Adele. Coldplay could release an album even if Mickael Jackson ressurects and comes up with a new album. I don't care about other artists and the band shouldn't too.

And I don't want Coldplay to be the no. 1 album... I just want good music.

 

Remember, even Nicki Minaj or Miley Cyrus were no. 1 on charts and that doesn't mean their music is good. Is sh*t.

Agree. But we must remember that Coldplay's main goal is to make good music. Not to be number one on charts... ;)

While I agree from a fan perspective, management is not thinking this way.

 

Especially after the GS era where the band didn't tour all that much, the execs are looking to break the bank with LP7. They aren't about to piss away the chance to make maximum profit just to get into a duel with Adele.

Either a December release or a January release are both great for us with some teasing around November...

The Adele factor is important but I do not think that both artists actually target the same public. Of course there will be persons who are fan of both bands but overall, my humble opinion is that they are not direct competition.

But its the management/record label/execs that are out for money.

Just take a look at the past. Rolling Stones, Queen, Radiohead, Nirvana (especially Nirvana) were they worried about money? No, they were worried about making good music. That's why Kurt Cobain and other artists will never die. Because they are the real definition of a perfect musician. They are artists, not just guys that sing and are rich.

 

And my dream is that, after many years, when Coldplay breaks (long life to them) they still remain in the history of rock (pop-rock) music.

Yes Coldplay's mission could indeed not be that. But their record label's sure as hell is. Ghost Stories wasn't a huge money maker for them, so they are definitely going to want to make up for that with this next album.

I still can't get over how long we have been waiting. I'm not complaining, it's just unbelievable how I thought this album would be release by August AT THE LATEST. I love Coldplay and I know there's a method to the madness. I trust everything they do. I am 100% confident this album will be AMAZING.
