I know it's all mostly self-inflicted stress and dissapointment but still, they played a new song, they're obviously aware that the pictures from the video shoot got out and that we all saw them, why cant they give us anything official? It frustrates me to see them tweet about literally every damn topic except AHFOD...

Same. For Christ sake, I don't care if they come out and say the album is being release next fall, I just want some sort of OFFICIAL news. TALK TO US COLDPLAY!

am i the only one that is not that frustrated by the lack of direct info from the band? after the august hype and then the iheartradio and global citizen hype, it is clear that this era it's going to officially start a little differently. just enjoy the pre-release excitement when anything is possible ;)

I'm not mad with no news. I'm just hype about the single. I want to hear it already and I want to hear it backwards as well!

I honestly think that we might as well revolt. I have an idea. Everyone go onto Coldplay's facebook, twitter, and instagram page and just comment #newsinglenow. And to be more effective DM them on insta about how much u love the band. I think its time we deserved something. We are dying of suspense here! Latching onto every little tiny rumour that is heard from God knows where, getting excited on supposed single release days only to be let down when the day is done. Coldplayers, we've supported this band so much its about time they show us a little appreciation. So like dont be hateful, but be assertive in this. Demand news about the album

I don't think we're gonna hear the single Friday..

Maybe they'll go the Adele route. She officially announced her album and will premiere her new single with only a one month notice of her albums release date. If Dec. 4th(speculating) is the target date, then I would think they would release the single around the end of October or first week of November. It kind of backs up the,"single will be released at the end of October" rumor.

 

Usually they release the lead single a couple months in advance. Making an official announcement and releasing a single one month before the albums release date would definitely be a different strategy then previous albums. I think artist like Adele and Coldplay can get away with that sort of thing.

 

I also think that they won't release the single without making an official announcement first. Giving us a heads up on when to expect it. I dont see a surprise release happening.

AP are faster than anyone else it seems, but they are just as prone to jumping the gun and misreporting as anyone.

 

CPZ are italian IIRC, and since i don't speak italian nor trust the translations I stay away as well.

We all just need to chill a little. There is no confirmation that the album is done, and there is no confirmation that the first single is done. Coldplay isn't at fault here; we are. We've all been frothing at the mouth since the beginning of summer expecting a single or an entire album to drop at any minute--at this point, there's no reason why either of those things should happen soon :P Granted, yes, the playing of Amazing Day and shooting of the "music video" in India are compelling points that could point to an imminent release, but they could also simply be the first legs of a process that aren't finished yet.

 

Amazing Day performance - Just because it was played doesn't mean it relates to the album. It could be a song that was scrapped. The guys could intend to put it on AHFoD but were road-testing it to see what sort of atmosphere it generated in a live performance and may have decided to give it an overhaul. They also could have realized that we were going rabid complaining and anticipating that they were going to give us something new and played it just to throw us a bone.

 

"Music video" shoot - Correct me if I'm wrong in this, but wasn't that video shot in conjunction with some sort of festival? If so, its timing could have nothing to do with when the album/first single is arriving. If it wasn't shot during a festival, it could just be that particular week was the only one that worked for all the guys and their team. We've sort of been treating it like any of Coldplay's other music videos shot in England, when really this one probably required a lot more planning and coordination which could entail any number of reasons why they chose the particular date to shoot it that they did.

 

For me, the final nail in the coffin that we won't be getting the full album this year is Adele's release. Coldplay's record company is going to want their album to sell the best it possibly can, and if it's in competition with Adele's 25 then it would be able to do that. We may still get a single this year, but I think we should all set our sights for an early-2016 release at the earliest for the full album.

 

I don't mean to be a downer in this post, but lots of posters are getting their hopes up week after week only to be disappointed, and that's leading to a lot of frustration. If we can all take a step back and remember that no one but the band and their inner circle truly know when the album is coming, I think it can save us all a lot of headaches :nice:

I don't mind the boys taking their time to release the album next year but the single will be out before the end of the year.
