Attention - Those who bought tickets for proposed Amsterdam show

Featured Replies

For the attention of those who bought tickets to the proposed Chris Martin in Amsterdam show. Coldplay HQ has confirmed to me that the email from Dave Holmes, which supposedly gave the go ahead for Chris to perform in Netherlands (in the other, now locked thread) is fraudulent, directly from Dave himself.

Because of the fraud (from who we can only assume is a third party, not linked with the live on demand website), over 100 tickets have been sold. Now, there is a money back guarantee, if an event does not take place and Coldplay HQ have confirmed it 'almost definitely will not happen', so that guarantee will be called upon. Please be patient for this, Gerben is speaking directly to Live On Demand, letting them know what happened and you'll be kept up to date on this thread.

Obviously, everyone's disappointed about this. It's one of those things that happens online. Gerben deserves credit for trying to organise something like this though, which seemed very unlikely but did all they could to make it happen and was even interviewed by a radio station - a very interesting experience! Lesson here for those of us with great enthusiasm and ideas, is to not do anything differently apart from double checking with me or the mod team and we'll try and get in touch with the right people to confirm everything first, if something esculates like we thought it did.

Hopefully, the whole band will go to The Netherlands in the near future and all of us will be there anyway ;)

Let me first apologise to everyone and say that I'm absolutely devastated. I'm in close contact with Live On Demand and we're gonna figure out if we can reach the 'real' Dave and let me please make clear that otherwise everyone will get their money back. At the moment I'm torn between sadness, anger and self-hate. Let's just hope for the best and I'll keep you all informed. Please dont hate me because I already hate myself more than enough.

We don't hate you Gerben, definitely not! It was a really really great initiative and we all knew the risks when we bought these tickets didn't we? ;)

Please don't feel bad Gerben! It's not your fault and it was an awesome idea, seriously don't hate yourself. Thanks for what you did

It is what it is, I wouldn't feel guilty about it, it will play on your mind and doesn't benefit you whatsoever. It just did a Ron Burgundy ;) I would of previously done the same thing :P

I won't hate you Gerben, please don't be hard on yourself! You did not knew this, you did not want this to happen!

Maybe you can contact the real Dave. And if not, we pick ourselves up () and we all wait patiently for another chance te see Chris and the others :)

There are much more worse things in the world; we will overcome this :)

If nothing else, it was a nice dream and I enjoyed the pre-gig excitement for a few days.

It helped me through busy days, so it was worth it even if the gig actually doesn't happen :-)

Part of the process, don't give up! At least there is a chance now that Chris has heard or will hear of this crowd funding craziness. ;)

It sucks and I wonder how it happend with the email, but you can absolutely not help it! It was and still is a great initiative.

People kept on buying tickets like up until now.

I guess this is it then, 2 bad. Would like to think there still is a chance.. It would be really great of him if he would just say: Oh, wth. why not! Let's surprise them :)

But anyway, it also kept me excited for a few days, and I so needed it! So thank you!

Oh, that's too bad. You're not to blame, Gerben. Don't hate yourself. Enthusiasm should be rewarded, like Sparky said. And can I just say, you were on 3FM (which is like BBC Radio over here). So, at least you're famous now.

So, a fake e-mail, how the hell did that happen? Bad joke?

The e-mail may be fake, but this doesn't change anything with Live On Demand does it? The crowdfunding event has nothing to do with this mail. Even though the real Dave Holmes now has said it is very unlikely that Chris would do anything like this, the possibility is still there (albeit a tiny one).

Hi guys!

Gerben good job on being such an enthusiastic fan! You rocked 3FM, national radio dude!

Then, obviously it is always a bummer (*understatement*) when things turn out different from what you’ve imagined. From our perspective nothing has happened yet. With any other event this is the stage where we start getting in contact with the management and/or agent of an artist. So that’s what we’ll start doing first thing tomorrow!

To everyone with a ticket: We’ll do our very best to get in contact with the right responsible person for Coldplay and Chris Martin. If worst comes to worst, we’ll get you guys a refund.

We’ve started Live on Demand to make the almost impossible possible. Fans like Gerben started and created 12 successful events already. When you reach for the stars, sometimes this is what happens along the way. No worries: refund is as mentioned guaranteed. But first let’s make this happen for Gerben and all the fans out there!

Keep you posted and if you’d have any questions contact [email protected]!

Regards,

Demelza @ Live on Demand

Thanks Demelza :) I've seen the email you sent me. Just awaiting a reply on my end, to get a contact for you.

Yo Gerben, don't hate yourself, nobody's safe from internet jackasses.

You did a great job with this, there is zero reason why we should have any negative feelings towards you.

Unless you took all of our fancy money and plan to run away with it! :mean:

Let's just hope we get our cash back if Coldplay don't bother to show up.

Oh man!! This sucks! I'm really sorry to hear this! And Gerben, don't be so hard on your self. I really do hope that the band gets to tour there in their next tour.

I'm dead tired right now, but I decided this: I'm going to stay positive and that's what I ask from you guys. We went on this crazy rollercoaster ride together, let's remain in our seats until the end and see what the end result is. As Chris sung: Nobody said it was easy (and no one ever said it would be this hard). I'll keep trying to make this happen, no matter what. If Phil says that it "almost definitely will not happen", then I gather some hope from the 'almost'. Let's make this happen, together!

That's the spirit Gerben, stay positive! No need for selfloathing. We all understand.

And as long as we don't get our money back, there is still hope ;)

Good thiiiiings are coming our way!

Hi Gerben,

don't let it break your heart!

It sucks that things turned out this way but as you said, it isn't over yet.

I guess we all had the feeling this concert was possible, otherwise we wouldn't have bougth a ticket.

And it seems that there are still people buying tickets.

It's up to Live on Demand now to show us what they got into their sleeve.

I'm sorry to hear that. Something definitely felt off and a little too good to be true with that email, so I was a bit cautious anyways. But gerber, it's okay! These things happen. No one here is angry with you. :)

Don't worry gerben, you did your best. I was sceptical from the start that it would happen in reality but was willing (and still am) to support the good cause even on a very, very slim chance. And hey, if I had not been prepared to part with that money I would not have done it.

Or, how we say it in Germany: "Abwarten und Tee trinken!"

Literal meaning: "Wait and drink tea!", translated meaning= "Just wait and see!"

ouh that is rather British for a German saying :surprised::lol:

See this is one big reason why I love Coldplaying :wacky: Fans stick together and do their best to accomplish some great projects! Even if this is very unlikely, I'm hopeful something good is coming for this.
