Green Eyes is an ok song by their standards, I have it into higher consideration because of the amazing album it is included in, but itยดs not one of their best at all, imo. Since Ghost Stories, theyยดve done at least five better ballads (True love, Oceans, Daddy, Crycrycry, Everyday Life, and Coloratura of course).

O (Fly On) is probably in my top 20, I get goose bumps from that song!

Has anyone gotten a reply from the Coldplay Store yet? They've sent me the wrong order. The problem is that the notebook edition can't be ordered anymore so I don't see myself getting one if they don't respond to me. At least I have the voice memos now but I really wanted the notebook. I will probably go through paypal to get my money back..

If anyone knows where do find the notebook in a digital version please let me know.ย

A lot of people have called Chris Martin the Benjamin Button of lyrics. I don't know about that, but I do know this. My son has been alive for three days and he only knows one word. La.ย

Congratulations! But I should say Chris told years ago that the first song his first daughter (was it Apple? I donยดt give a shit have a clue) heard was him playing her and Gwyneth "A sort of homecoming" (U2) beside the hospital bed. Iยดm not comparing, but...ย ๐Ÿ˜‚

(Sorry for so many posts)

By the way, I was looking at the notebook edition book and "FNRDZ" appears several times in the song list. Do you know what it could be? It seems like the only song that fell off the tracklist. Could it be another aggregation of various mid-instrumental/alternative tracks like Alien Hits?

I am very struck by the fact that Man in the Moon and Karate Kid do not appear at any point in the tracklist. It seems that they were never considered to be part of the album, which seems like a waste to me, because they are one of the best songs of this era.

Chris said at the Brooklyn show that The Karate Kid was only finished weeks before the album came out. I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of the LP11 recordings.

I actually hate when people say that, it implies Chris has gotten dumb or mentally incapacitated, which is just mean. Also, I doubt someone would have the guts to say that to his face.

It's been such a long time since I felt this way about a Coldplay album. It's like I suddenly feel "Oh I have to listen to that song and after that I have to listen to that song" and then it just continues like that until I've actually listened to the whole album LOL. I just feel so happy, this is such a good album folks. And I don't care if the lyrics are a bit weak, the music and melodies makes up for it. I think this is my favorite album since Viva.

Oh come on, that only means his lyrics have been changing from not great but trying, to the nowadays general simpleness in most of the tracks. And if I were to have a relaxed conversation with him, which I wonยดt, of course I would point it out to him, and he would explain the reason why he does it that way now, I would disagree and that would be all.

But sometimes you people react like weยดre threatening your parents or your cousin, relax please.ย

Would you use that nickname in front of him to express what you want though? I doubt it, so my point still stands.

Itยดs not a nickname, itยดs a joke, thank god he has a better sense of humour than half of the users here.

I promise you Chris deals with worse on a daily basis. You don't spend 20 years as one of the most famous men in the world without knowing how to deal with random people saying weird stuff about you.ย

People have been using the Benjamin Button line on him for at least a decade. There's no way he's not aware of it. So yeah I would call him that to his face, and if he's anything like the Chris I love he'd have a hilarious reply ready to go. I'd probably use it as an excuse to go on about my newborn anyway, hopefully he'd find him cute.ย

Itยดs not dumb, and itยดs not necessary to take it to the extreme sensibility everytime. Itยดs just that he began trying to write meaningful and personal lyrics that also had the quality of good songwriters of all time, as he expressed it. Bono, Springsteen, etc, that was the goal and album after album he talked about it. I remember talking about โ€œThe hardest partโ€ saying (before the X&Y release) and how ย he was proud of having got a kind-of-REM song. Well, it is what it is, he has another (legit) goals to achieve with his lyrics now, so end of the topic for me.

I think the quality of Chris' lyrics have varied across the Coldplay spectrum of albums. Many people, including myself, love the earlier stuff but Parachutes and X&Y didn't exactly have incredible lyrics. The quality of the music carry those albums. Ghost Stories is another one with very simplistic lyrics but I've grown to enjoy how minimalist the melodies are. It's obvious to me that Chris can still write well. Everyday Life proved it and Coloratura is a feat in and of itself. Whether or not they want their music to be more complex vs simple ends up being the question and it's something only the band can decide for themselves, ultimately.ย

Iยดm sorry, I donยดt mean to go on and on about the same ideas, but for me, Parachutes, X&Y and Ghost Stories are miles away from the two last albums in terms of lyrics. Itยดs true some of them seem simple, but they are wider, the choice of words is much more elaborated, they donยดt flow around the same ideas, and even with that, "Man in the moon" shows you can still sing about what unites us and all of that stuff with acceptable verses.

FRNDZ was the forefather of MiTM and flifil. That's all I'll say.

A lot of people here don't realise how personal the title track is to Chris it may not have many lyrics but they are the most vulnerable he's ever writtenย

That song is great, musically and with a straight to the heart lyrics.

Like Rainy Day School, or in another way?

--------

The Coldplay store finally got back to me... The sent me the wrong files once again. This time I told them in no uncertain terms to send me the WAVS for the Tour Edition or to give me my money back.
