It doesn't create nuclear waste like Uranium does after it's been spent. There's enough of it near the surface of the Earth to power human civilization for the next million years. No more nuclear meltdowns like the one in Fukushima or Chernobyl.

(CNN) -- North Korea's longtime leader Kim Jong Il, the embodiment of the reclusive state where his cult of personality is deeply entrenched, has died, state TV reported. He was believed to be 69. Regarded as one of the world's most-repressive leaders, Kim Jong Il always cut a slightly bizarre figure. His diminutive stature and characteristically bouffant hair have been parodied by some in the West. "He's a mysterious person -- I think by design," said Han S. Park, director of the Center for the Study of Global Issues at the University of Georgia and a frequent visitor to North Korea. "Mystery is a source of leverage and power. It's maintaining uncertainty." But for t…

When a bleary-eyed David Cameron gave his pre-dawn press conference this morning, he was asked if he had reverted to the Victorian Tory foreign policy of 'splendid isolation'. The PM dismissed the claim, referring to the way Schengen operated, to Maastricht and other ways the EU allowed its members to operate differently. It all sounded a bit like John Major's famous 'variable geometry'. But the EU Venn diagram this morning looks a bit like two separate circles, a big one with 26 other states in it and another small one containing the UK. Initially, it looked as though we were part of an outer Europe that people were calling the CHUKS (Czechs, Hungarians, UK and Sw…
