  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

I checked, and the reply by @guy42 has your apparently deleted post in it in the form of a quote... that's really weird. Don't know how it could have just disappeared like that.

Wow, I think 1 of my posts just dissappeared!?

That's weird! It's gone now...

I checked

How?

Actually, I never use a 'Quote', how does it works?

I just looked at @guy42's post, and I saw some of your deleted post in his reply to your post in the form of a quote.

By "quote", I mean that yellow box that shows up in your reply to someone. See, you used it right there in your post. And if you look, your text is in yellow.

Aha, I know that. Sorry for the misunderstanding, thought you meant ''Multi - Quote'' or so.

I like that remake of Don't Panic. You can listen to it in full here:

Sorry people for discussing only about a stupid message but it's just weird it could vanish like that !

I was just very angry because of something. Then I plugged my headphones in and started listening to AROBTTH. I don't know why, but from the angry drums of Politik right at the beginning to the suppressed anger in the title track this album ALWAYS manages to calm me down when I'm upset about something. Thank you AROBTTH :)

Been wanting to say this for a while now. It kind of annoys me that the Mylo "interludes" can just be snapped on to the real songs that come after them. However, in Ghost Stories, they had a REAL interlude in the form of the "second" part of Oceans I guuss. That in my opinion should have been it's own track. It's actually a mix between Oceans and ASFOS and it makes complete sense for it to be it's own track. When I'm listening to Oceans on it's own I don't really want that part in it although it makes complete sense for it to play between it and ASFOS. Then that would bring the song count up to 10 for GS. Throw Miracles in there after ASFOS (even though I think that may have been made after GS, I'm not sure) and you have the normal 11 tracks.

Then, to add on to that, in Viva they didn't split them into two songs on 3 tracks: LiT/Reign of Love, Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant. and DAAHF/The Escapist. In my opinion those should have been seperated. There's absolutely no reason to stick them together and make it only seem like there's 10 songs when in fact there's 13. Then, you have the Mylo interludes and there was definetely a reason to stick them together. Then there's no reason for the 2nd part of Oceans to not be it's own track. Same with XMTS on AHFOD. Just doesn't make sense to me, that's all. And something to talk about, I guess.

For some reason the more I listen to Politik and the really good "Oldplay" songs the more I really appreciate their older work a lot more than the newer work. The more I wonder what happened to Coldplay and their ability to write those kinds of songs. Where did it all go? The more I listen to the beauty of the older songs the more I know what you and the other people who are more fans of the older songs mean.

Agree. What's especially annoying is that when you shuffle songs on Spotify, it plays the interludes as separate tracks.

Yeah, that must be annoying... and you're very very very lucky if the actual song that should be attached onto the interlude in the first place plays after it's interlude. Has to be a really low chance or maybe none at all because maybe it's not possible for it to play a track right after the other like that as if it were in the album? In any case, I have no idea why they'd even seperate the tracks. Makes no sense whatsoever... I have the tracks with interludes that should be attached onto the rracks in one piece on my phone so I don't have to worry about that :D

I actually like that because if I have run out of skips, the interludes count as a song which means I am closer to getting my skips back without listening to a full song....hope that makes sense

I've had Spotify play an interlude after its song pair (like HLH then MX) but never the other way around haha!

I hope I don't bring back the endless discussion about oldplay and newplay. I agree with you, I understand why oldplayers love more the first albums, they seem like they come from a different band. But that doesn't makes me appreciate them more. I love the new and old songs (with some exceptions) I appreciate what they have done through the years. Coldplay is the only band I have listened to from beginning to end, the rest of bands and singers have songs or albums that I like, it's just that I wasn't interested in music and maybe I won't. Anyways, this is just my opinion.

huh?? run out of skips??

huh?? run out of skips??

Like skip to the next song. I don't have premium, so I only have like 5 skips or something until I can't skip any more songs...and then you have to listen to a certain number of songs or wait a while until you get your skips back

I do agree with you. I'm a bit biased towards Oldplay but overall I like all of Coldplay's discography and enjoy all of their new album even if I don't think it's at the level of quality as before. As I've mentioned before, even though I like Old songs from Coldplay more in general I love MX as my favorite album which is an odd characteristic of someone this way. But I think I fit in that rare group that only think that the first quality drop was GS and beyond. I think it's because in MX and earlier they had a rich sound, while in GS and before it got a little too poppy and electronic for it to sound rich, the songs themselves can be really good but the production makes the song sound a little too slick and polished. And sometimes I'm fine with that but it takes away the depth and richness that I cherish. It's nothing big but it does have a noticable effect. Not only that, the songwriting quality has taken a step down since GS as well... you're not going to find anything near the emotional and quality and just powerful level of "Politik" or "The Scientist" or "Warning Sign" or any of those classics in albums like GS and AHFOD, Like I said, I still very much enjoy these albums. But in my opinion, they can't compare to classics like "AROBTTH" or "X&Y". Hope you know what I mean, and for anyone interested in reading this is my opinion on Coldplay's discography and how they've progressed!

EDIT: This isn't to say that there isn't any good songs on the new album. The beginning of Another's Arms sounds great and as a whole I enjoy the song and it's cool feeling I guess. The new songs are definetely very listenable and I find something unique in each and every one of them just like any other Coldplay song. This is what I like about Coldplay, they just have this signature style in each one of their songs that I love for whatever reason while having something unique in each song!

Wow. I've got to say, that's really dumb. I didn't really know that before (since I don't use Spotify :P)

Yeah I'm having that trouble too....once I had no more skips and then Parachutes came up, I was very glad for that ;D
